CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – 25th January 2026
(Holocaust Memorial Day is observed on 27th January)
"We wish to remember. But we wish to remember for a purpose, namely, to ensure that never again will evil prevail, as it did for the millions of innocent victims of Nazism."
Pope Saint John Paul II, Speech at Yad Vashem, 23/03/2000

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home
Economies of scale, especially in the agricultural sector, end up forcing smallholders to sell their land or to abandon their traditional crops. Their attempts to move to other, more diversified, means of production prove fruitless because of the difficulty of linkage with regional and global markets, or because the infrastructure for sales and transport is geared to larger businesses. (#129)
