Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 12th April (International Street Child Day) "If you break a computer it is a tragedy, but poverty, the needs, the dramas of so many people end up becoming the norm. … In so many parts of the world there are children who have nothing to eat, that’s not news, it seems normal. It cannot be this way!"
Pope Francis, General Audience, 5/06/2013

Laudato Si’ Quote - on new biological technologies:
Although no conclusive proof exists that GM cereals may be harmful to human beings, and in some regions their use has brought about economic growth which has helped to resolve problems, there remain a number of significant difficulties which should not be underestimated. In many places, following the introduction of these crops, productive land is concentrated in the hands of a few owners due to “the progressive disappearance of small producers, who, as a consequence of the loss of the exploited lands, are obliged to withdraw from direct production”. (#134)

Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some act of reverence such as a bow.
