Peregrinatio Pro Christi (Travelling for Christ): Every year some members of the Legion of Mary volunteer to take part in a Peregrinatio Pro Christi project (PPC) to another country. This year on Monday 14th July, a team will travel to Helsinki in Finland sharing their faith with all those they meet. It can often be very difficult work and is supported by the many prayers being said by those at home. We would like to invite you to pray for this project which concludes on Thursday 24th July.

COLLECTIONS: 5th/6th July: Plate - £805. Many Thanks. SECOND COLLECTION: There will be a Second Collection next weekend, 19th/20th July for the Sisters of St Peter Claver.

SEA SUNDAY, 13th JULY, is a day for people to come together to pray for seafarers and fishers, who are essential to our daily lives, yet often endure challenging and dangerous working conditions. Stella Maris, formerly known as the Apostleship of the Sea, is the Catholic Church’s maritime ministry. Its dedicated chaplains offer both practical assistance and pastoral support to seafarers and fishers across the UK and around the world. For resources and more information, visit their website at https://stellamaris.org.uk

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 13th July 2025 As a general principle it may be laid down that a worker ought to have leisure and rest proportionate to the wear and tear of their strength, for waste of strength must be repaired by cessation from hard work. Rerum Novarum, para. 42

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - But humanity has changed profoundly, and the accumulation of constant novelties exalts a superficiality which pulls us in one direction. It becomes difficult to pause and recover depth in life. (#113)

World Day for Grandparents & the Elderly - Sunday 27th July 2025 To celebrate this day, the National Marriage, Family and Life Commission invites everyone to St. Francis Xavier’s, Carfin for Mass at 3pm with Bishop John Keenan. Come along and enjoy this inter-generational event.

Jubilee Service. Each Deanery in the diocese has been asked to take part in a Jubilee Service at the Cathedral this year. Our date is 15th September at 7p.m. Along with St. Joseph's, Milngavie, we have been asked to arrange transport if possible.
Therefore, if you are interested in attending, there is a sheet in the porch for you to sign. If there are sufficient numbers we would try to hire a bus.

At our June Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meeting, we reviewed and discussed reports from Parish Groups including Liturgy, Justice & Peace, Messengers, Fabric & Finance and Halls.
We focused also on holding another Sign Up Sunday after weekend Masses to raise awareness of the groups in the parish and seek new volunteers for some key areas.
If you'd like further detail, minutes are available here on this link.

Piety Stall rota Could you occasionally help with serving in the Piety Stall? We are particularly short of volunteers for the 10a.m. Sunday morning Mass – if you could sometimes spare 10 minutes after this Mass to help, we’d be most grateful. The rota sheet for July, August and September is on the door of the Piety Stall.
Meantime, our sincere thanks to everyone who regularly volunteers to assist with running the stall. Any questions please call Anne MacIntosh 07866 009078 or Annamaria Strachan 07749 715514.

RCIA PROGRAMME: Interested in becoming a Catholic? Please get in touch. The programme of learning and instruction will begin after summer and prepares adults for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Please speak to Fr Michael, if you would like to know more.

FINAL YEAR AT SCHOOL? Like to do the Caritas Award? The Award celebrates the faith witness which Caritas candidates give within their home, school and parish. For more information, speak to Fr Michael and visit https://sces.org.uk/caritas-award/

New Altar Servers. If you would like to be a Server, please ask your Parents/Guardians to speak to Fr Michael. The more the merrier - I think!

Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some act of reverence such as a bow.

Regarding young children who haven’t made their First Communion being given a blessing at Communion time. Parents who wish their child to receive a blessing must come forward, please, in the Communion line to the priest.  Many thanks.

S.P.U.C. There are little cards from the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child for you to pick up at the back of the church if you are interested in receiving more information about their work and supporting it.

The Church is open until 5p.m. Monday to Saturday. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.

Tea is served in the hut after daily Mass/Services Monday to Thursday. All most welcome.

There are a couple of backdated editions of 'The Tablet' magazine in the porch for you, free of charge.

The latest J&P Scotland newsletter is now available on https://www.justiceandpeacescotland.org.uk

Support for Drumchapel Foodbank. Drumchapel Foodbank is particularly in need of extra donations during the summer holidays when school meals are not provided, and many families are under additional pressure to provide for their children. Non-perishable food items are always gratefully received. Please place in the box in the Church porch during usual opening times. Our rota is always looking for more foodbank volunteer drivers.
If you can help, please contact [email protected]. Thank you for continuing to give the foodbank your support.
