Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 19th July 2026
If our church is not marked by caring for the poor, the oppressed, the hungry, we are guilty of heresy.

Laudato Si’ Quote - integral ecology
Although we are often not aware of it, we depend on these larger ecosystems for our own existence. We need only recall how ecosystems interact in dispersing carbon dioxide, purifying water, controlling illnesses and epidemics, forming soil, breaking down waste, and in many other ways which we overlook or simply do not know about.  (#140)

Monsignor Ryan:
We are delighted to share that Mgr Ryan's operation was successful. He is now sitting up, taking it easy and enjoying watching the golf as he recovers.
Mgr is deeply grateful for everyone's prayers, good wishes and support. He was also delighted to hear that Fr Lyon remembered him at Mass, for which he is very thankful.
Please continue to keep Mgr Ryan in your prayers as he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Plastic Free July:
  • Annual campaign encouraging people to cut down on single-use plastics throughout the month of July.
  • The goal is to raise awareness of plastic pollution and empower everyone to make small, sustainable changes - such as choosing reusable bags, bottles, and containers - that add up to a significant positive impact.
  • More information/resources: Plastic Free July – Be Part of the Plastic Pollution Solution

CHURCH DECORATION:
  • As you know, the church is due to be painted sometime in August. We thought it would be practical to close the church during the week for the work to take place. Of course, any funerals would still take place.
  • The weekend Masses would not be affected, they will continue as normal.
  • Hoping that this does not put anyone out.
  • Thanks for your understanding.
