Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 10th May
"The motivating concern for the poor - who are, in the very meaningful term, "the Lord's poor" must be translated at all levels into concrete actions, until it decisively attains a series of necessary reforms."
Pope Saint John Paul II, Sollicitudo rei Socialis, para 42

Laudato Si’ Quote - on new biological technologies ……. it is troubling that, when some ecological movements defend the integrity of the environment, rightly demanding that certain limits be imposed on scientific research, they sometimes fail to apply those same principles to human life. There is a tendency to justify transgressing all boundaries when experimentation is carried out on living human embryos. (#136)

SPRING COFFEE MORNING - St. Joseph's Milngavie is having a coffee morning in the parish hall:
  • Saturday 16th May from 10am to 12.30pm.
  • The £5 entrance fee covers your drinks and eats and enters you in the raffle too.
  • Kids' entrance is free.
  • The parish is presently raising funds for a new tabernacle in memory of Fr. Currie. The proceeds of the coffee morning will be used for this purpose.

Next Week - Laudato Si’ Week - May 17 -24 marks the 11th anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical on care for our common home.
This year’s theme invites us to move From Hope to Action.
  • Hope is not passive; it is lived and shared through daily choices, community life, prayer, and concrete acts of care.
  • The next chapter of Laudato Si’ begins with us, wherever we are.
