Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Palm Sunday, 13th April 2025
And so at last the poor have hope, and the snapping jaws of the wicked are shut. Job 5:16

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home – Our freedom fades when it is handed over to the blind forces of the unconscious, of immediate needs, of self-interest, and of violence. In this sense, we stand naked and exposed in the face of our ever-increasing power, lacking the wherewithal to control it. (#105)

Remember Vocations in your Lenten Devotions 13th April - Palm Sunday: “To the extent that this Lent becomes a time of conversion, an anxious humanity will notice a burst of creativity, a flash of new hope. At this moment in time, we face enormous risks; we hear the painful plea of so many people. Yet let us find the courage to see our world … in a process of giving birth …” (Pope Francis, Message for Lent 2024).  Pray for vocations and support ministries to those who are in need.

Palm Sunday - Walk, Cycle or Scoot to Worship Spring has sprung, the schools are on holiday, and everyone is outdoors enjoying the great weather. So let’s take the opportunity to think about and give thanks for the air we breathe, and doing our bit to keep it clean by walking or cycling or scooting to Mass this weekend.

Support Group for Catholic Women Affected by Separation and Divorce The meeting of our support group for women affected by separation and divorce will take place on Friday, 25th April, in The Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Maryhill, from 6.00p.m. to 8.00p.m. All new members are welcome to this confidential support group, which is run by women who have come through this experience themselves. For further information email: [email protected]

Lenten Challenging Poverty sheets - many thanks to all who took on the challenges over the last five weeks and especially to those who returned them each week.  With thanks to the Liturgy group, these will be used in offering at the Easter Vigil to light the fire from which the Paschal Candle is then lit.  J&P

Regarding young children who haven’t made their First Communion being given a blessing at Communion time. Parents who wish their child to receive a blessing must come forward, please, in the Communion line to the priest.  Many thanks.
