"Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities." Fr Mackle Presentation Saturday 9th November 2024 Click below for slideshow Message from Fr Mackle It was lovely being back in St Andrew’s last Saturday and seeing you all. I cannot thank you all enough for what truly was a wonderful evening, and I am overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity and kindness. A very sincere thank you to Fr Michael, Deacon Tommy and to you all. With deep appreciation. God bless you all. Fr Mackle Message from Deacon Tommy Dear Parish Family, As I prepare to move on to serve in Our Lady of Lourdes, Cardonald, I want you to know that my time here has been a true blessing, and it has been a privilege to walk alongside you in faith, celebrate life’s joys, and support one another through its challenges. I am officially at St Andrew’s until the end of December but, as I have had no time off this year and with Fr Michael’s agreement, I will take my annual leave from the 2nd of December. I wish Fr Michael joy in his time here with you all. May the Lord continue to bless and guide you, and always keep hold of Our Blessed Mother’s hand. Please keep me in your prayers as I do the same for you. With all my love and prayers, Deacon Tommy. Essential work within the entire St. Andrew's Complex began on Monday 11th November and should last between 2-3 weeks. This means the Church, House and Hut will be out of bounds. There will be no Masses/ Services during the week over this time period, barring any Funerals. We will still have the use of the church for weekend Masses. Emails during this period of work will not be opened until the weekend. Assisted Dying Bills are currently being debated in both the Scottish and UK Parliaments. This issue is clearly a very sensitive one. People are moved by concern for those who are suffering and for their families. Ironically, this month marks the 10th Anniversary of the WHO call to all nations to fully integrate palliative care into their healthcare systems. Such care should be at the forefront of any future NHS reform as, above all, it offers the alternative to legalised assisted suicide. In Ivory Coast, more than three-quarters of the population lacks a loo. But toilet twinning can transform lives. It’s simple, it’s fun but it's also really, really important. Last year, our church twinned its 4 toilets with 1 each in Afghanistan, Cote d’Ivoire, Honduras and DRC. To receive in truth the Body and Blood of Christ given up for us, we must recognize Christ in the poorest, his brethren. Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1397 Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - Everything is connected.
