Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 19th April 2026
"We cannot love God unless we love each other, and to love we must know each other. We know him in the breaking of bread, and we are not alone any more."
Servant of God Dorothy Day, The Long Loneliness

Laudato Si’ Quote – on new biological technologies
The expansion of these (GM cereal) crops has the effect of destroying the complex network of ecosystems, diminishing the diversity of production and affecting regional economies, now and in the future. In various countries, we see an expansion of oligopolies for the production of cereals and other products needed for their cultivation. This dependency would be aggravated were the production of infertile seeds to be considered; the effect would be to force farmers to purchase them from larger producers. (#134)

The Mini Vinnies of St Nicholas’ Primary School are to be thanked and congratulated on their organisation of a Lenten Prayer Breakfast in the school during Holy Week and for their “Thinking of Others” school project of collecting Easter Eggs and writing Easter Cards for delivery to the patrons in the Wayside Club Centre, Glasgow.
