The Lower Hall will be closed from this Tuesday for at least a week while a new floor is put down. The Upper Hall will be out of bounds this Sunday and Monday for the same reason.
But I want you to make yourselves heard in your dioceses, I want the noise to go out, I want the Church to go out onto the streets, I want us to resist everything worldly, everything static, everything comfortable, everything to do with clericalism, everything that might make us closed in on ourselves. Pope Francis, Address to Rio WYD Pilgrims from Argentina, 25 July 2013
Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home – If architecture reflects the spirit of an age, our megastructures and drab apartment blocks express the spirit of globalized technology, where a constant flood of new products coexists with a tedious monotony. Let us refuse to resign ourselves to this, and continue to wonder about the purpose and meaning of everything. Otherwise we would simply legitimate the present situation and need new forms of escapism to help us endure the emptiness. (#113)
World Day for Grandparents & the Elderly – next Sunday 27th July 2025 To celebrate this day, the National Marriage, Family and Life Commission invites everyone to St. Francis Xavier’s, Carfin for Mass at 3p.m. with Bishop John Keenan. Come along and enjoy this inter-generational event.
St. Andrew’s Whist Drive will take place on Wednesday 30th July, in the Lower Hall, from 2p.m. – 4:15p.m. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served. Entry £3. Looking forward to seeing everyone. New members always welcome.
Pilgrimage to pray for the Beatification of The Venerable Margaret Sinclair will take place on Sunday, 21st September in St. Partick's Church, Cowgate-Edinburgh. For more details please see the poster in the porch.
Jubilee Service. Each Deanery in the diocese has been asked to take part in a Jubilee Service at the Cathedral this year. Our date is 15th September at 7p.m. Along with St. Joseph's, Milngavie, we have been asked to arrange transport if possible. Therefore, if you are interested in attending, there is a sheet in the porch for you to sign. If there are sufficient numbers we would try to hire a bus.
Piety Stall rota Could you occasionally help with serving in the Piety Stall? We are particularly short of volunteers for the 10a.m. Sunday morning Mass – if you could sometimes spare 10 minutes after this Mass to help, we’d be most grateful. The rota sheet for July, August and September is on the door of the Piety Stall.
Meantime, our sincere thanks to everyone who regularly volunteers to assist with running the stall. Any questions please call Anne MacIntosh 07866 009078 or Annamaria Strachan 07749 715514.

If you can help, please contact [email protected]. Thank you for continuing to give the foodbank your support.
