“JUBILEE 2025 EVENTS FOR THIS WEEK - 25-27 April, Jubilee of Teenagers, 28-29 April, Jubilee of People with Disabilities, 1-4 May, Jubilee of Workers.
In the Catholic tradition, one of the ways we live out the call to discipleship is through honouring the inherent human dignity of each person. Let us therefore be inspired by the fortitude of those with disabilities who carry their cross each day, and by the contribution that all workers make in the service of others.”

Altar Servers’ Awards. On Saturday 26th April at the Vigil Mass, three Servers, Ben, Jakub and Harrison, were enrolled into the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen, and each received the familiar bronze medal on a red cord, having demonstrated, by assisting at Mass regularly for over two years by serving at the Altar, their commitment to this Parish Ministry. If any more youngsters would like to start serving, please approach Fr Michael or Chris Sanders (942 7519).

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 27 April Evangelisers thus take on the ‘smell of the sheep’ and the sheep are willing to hear their voice. Evangelii Gaudium, para. 24

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home – The basic problem goes even deeper: it is the way that humanity has taken up technology and its development according to an undifferentiated and one-dimensional paradigm. This paradigm exalts the concept of a subject who, using logical and rational procedures, progressively approaches and gains control over an external object. (#106)

Thursday 1st May is the feast of St Joseph the Worker and International Workers’ Day.  Why not offer a decade of the Rosary for all workers, past and present, and in particular for any Josephs that you know.

Carlo Acutis ~ The Vatican considers Canonisation to be an infallible act which can only be performed by a Pope.  For this reason, Carlo Acutis’ Canonisation is therefore on hold until we have a new Pope.  The weekend has turned into an unexpected farewell for Pope Francis…

DIFFICULTY READING LOCAL NEWS The Bearsden & Milngavie Talking Newspaper Association – BEAM- provides recordings each week, to the blind and visually impaired in the local community, of the Milngavie & Bearsden Herald, extracts from the Community News plus  stories from e.g. the Scottish Book Trust, adding a bit of light-hearted interest.  Free boom boxes are supplied -the Post Office provides a free postal service - therefore no cost to listeners.  For more information contact Graham Silcock – 07770 524983.

Piety Stall Rota Could you occasionally help serving in the Piety Stall? We are particularly short of volunteers for the 10a.m. Sunday morning Mass –if you could spare 10 minutes after this Mass to help, we’d be most grateful. Rota sheet for April, May & June is on the door of the Piety Stall. Meantime, sincere thanks to everyone who regularly volunteers to assist with running the stall. Any questions please call Anne MacIntosh 07866 009078 or Annamaria Strachan 07749 715514.
