Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 26th April 2026 (the Feast of St Joseph the Worker is observed on 1st May, this is also celebrated as International Workers Day) "All people have the right to work, to a chance to develop their qualities and their personalities in the exercise of their professions, to equitable remuneration which will enable them and their families “to lead a worthy life on the material, social, cultural and spiritual level” and to assistance in case of need arising from sickness or age." Pope Saint Paul VI, Octogesima Adveniens Laudato Si’ Quote – on new biological technologies A broad, responsible scientific and social debate needs to take place, one capable of considering all the available information and of calling things by their name. It sometimes happens that complete information is not put on the table; a selection is made on the basis of particular interests, be they politico-economic or ideological. This makes it difficult to reach a balanced and prudent judgement on different questions, one which takes into account all the pertinent variables. (#135) The Mini Vinnies of St Nicholas’ Primary School are to be thanked and congratulated on their organisation of a Lenten Prayer Breakfast in the school during Holy Week and for their “Thinking of Others” school project of collecting Easter Eggs and writing Easter Cards for delivery to the patrons in the Wayside Club Centre, Glasgow.
