Mgr Hugh Bradley, the Diocesan Administrator, will celebrate a Month’s Mind Mass for Archbishop Tartaglia in the Cathedral next Saturday 13th February at 1.00 pm.
The Mass can be viewed on the Cathedral Webcam which is accessible through www.cathedralg1.org Gartnavel hospital Catholic Chaplain, Deacon Michael O'Donnell, is currently planning ahead in relation to lay people returning to hospital ministry this year.
Are you an extraordinary minister of holy communion and would you be interested in hospital ministry at Gartnavel? Would you be free for one hour per week, daytime or evening, to visit patients? If so, please contact Fr Mackle on 0141 942 4635 or [email protected] Safeguarding Training would be arranged via Zoom in February. If you don't already have a PVG, you would be required to make an application to the archdiocese for one. Two suitable references would also be required, one of which must be from your parish priest. Please do consider this invaluable ministry of visiting Gartnavel's patients. It is so unfortunate that for Ash Wednesday this year, which is 17th February, we won’t be free to gather in the church to receive ashes and celebrate the beginning of Lent.
Just to say, though, that there will be quite a few things for Lent being made available for you over the next few weeks. There will be a liturgy for Ash Wednesday that you will be able to use at home, and we’ll be making available other suggestions for praying at home. The Archdiocesan Safeguarding Team has scheduled Zoom training for volunteers who have still to attend Induction Part 1 and / or Induction Part 2. Induction meetings are mandatory.
Volunteers who have still to attend are asked to contact the Safeguarding Office by email to book a space: [email protected]. Zoom Induction Part 1 10th & 24th Feb – 6:00 p.m. Zoom Induction Part 2 15th, 22nd & 25th Feb – 7:00 p.m. Richard Binns RIP
We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Richard Binns whose funeral Mass will take place this Friday, 5th February at 9am. Our deepest and most prayerful sympathies to Marie and her family. Frances Donaldson RIP We pray for the peaceful repose of the soul of Frances Donaldson whose funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, 11 February at 10am. Our deepest and most prayerful sympathies to John and his family. Olwin Jones RIP We pray, too, for the peaceful repose of the soul of Olwin Jones whose funeral Mass will take place on Friday 12th February at 10am. Deepest and most prayerful sympathies to Marion and her family. On this feast of Candlemas, when we hope and pray to reach that light which never fails, we pray that Frances, Olwin and Richard may be led to the radiant light of eternity, to the enduring joys of heaven. Pour into our hearts, Lord, the brilliance of perpetual light. Renew our faith so that we might be light for others. Amen
