It was the feast of Blessed Carlo Acutis yesterday 10th October. In Assisi on 10th October 2020, Pope Francis beatified 15 year old Carlo Acutis who died in 2006 making the teen the first of what we call the millennial generation to have been raised to the altar in this way.
In San Giuseppe's, Molfetta, Italy, the first stained glass window has been installed depicting the 15 year old with his trademark sneakers and rucksack, and the reminder that 'holiness is closer than we think'. P7 pupils, still to choose your Confirmation Saint? Well worth considering Blessed Carlo. Google his short life story. So far, 6,170 COP26 messages have been written.
The goal is 10,000. Write yours and send it to our leaders at the Climate Change conference in Glasgow to protect the things we love from the climate emergency. Go to climatescotland.org At this week’s Liturgy Group meeting, one of the matters discussed was singing at Mass while the restriction of mask wearing remains.
Until this restriction is removed, we have decided that there will be fewer hymns sung at all Masses, and instead there will be instrumental music played, especially at the end of every Mass. In this Year of St Joseph, please visit our sleeping St Joseph statue. You can write out a petition and place it under the statue. Let St Joseph ‘sleep on it'.
St Joseph listened to the voice of dreams. Make us a Church of contemplation and prayer, ever alert to the voice of angels and open to the surprises of God. PPC - The next meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council is on Thursday 21st October at 7pm, at which we look forward to welcoming our seven new members.
If there is anything you would like to put on the agenda for discussion, please e-mail veronicamcl@sky.com by Friday 15th October. |
