St Andrew’s Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) Meeting 22nd September 2025

Attendees: Father Michael, Mary Teresa Coyle (chair), Moira English ( Liturgy), Robert Paterson(Halls), Sadie Traynor (Messenger Service), Ricky Jackson ( Justice and Peace) Gary Wilson ( Fabric and Finance), and Veronica McLaughlin (Secretary). 

1. Previous minutes were agreed.

​2. Pastoral Area Group Report. A report will be submitted by secretary Patricia CampbellThe joint Pastoral Area Group is very happy with activity in the area of RCIA, schools' retreats and links with parish. Of particular note was the work undertaken by Margaret Barton for RCIA. 
Noted that the next Deanery meeting is on 30th September at 7pm in Kirkintilloch.   Veronica to attend in absence of Mary Teresa. 

3. Parish Group Reports

1. Liturgy- Mary Teresa reported she has spoken to David Quinn, Halls about the cable issue previously raised. It was agreed issue will be resolved before Christmas. 
2. J&P – no questions.
3. Messengers – no questions.
4. IV.Halls - short discussion around water ingress. Point made that it may be worth sharing the variety of improvements that the Halls Committee have made.  Church foyer carpet – discussed and Robert has secured quotes to replace church porch flooring which has had a water ingress issue.

Action - Robert to pass quotes to Gary and George Allan.

1. Fabric & Finance – question raised and answered about finances. Points raised about Bank of Scotland Account terms and conditions and potential action to mitigate any costs incurred. 

4. Sign up Sunday

• Update given by Veronica and PPC volunteers sought for the 2 days. 

5. Evangelisation Fund

• Criteria discussed and the fact that with matched funding is required. For example, it has to be a new initiative. Suggestion made by Veronica that it may be worth exploring whether promoting and advertising St Nicholas  via for example a pre Primary one intake leaflet would meet the criteria. This will need further thought and development to involve the relevant people.  

Action for Father Michael to speak to Primary School Headmaster, Mr Clancy. 

6. AOB 
Outside banner - discussed potential to replace outside banner.

• Action – Veronica to review details from original banner installed and most recent quote. 

Parking - Discussed issue parking outside church and whether risk assessment has been done. There have been incidences of people parking and blocking emergency vehicles. Robert reported a risk assessment has been carried out and Robert confirmed no one should park on the yellow lines. 

• Action – Robert to arrange signage and reminder to go into bulletin. Mary Teresa to ask Michael Sheerin to remind pass keepers.
