Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace – This Friday, February 23rd, St Andrew’s will join the Church in a Day of Prayer and Fasting for peace and the end to all forms of violence. The day was instituted by Pope Francis in a recent announcement. The Pope turned especially to the populations of the Democratic Republic of Congo and of South Sudan, which have been going through great escalation in violence and oppression, but he was also mindful of all the prolonged conflicts that are taking place in all parts of the world. Mass on Friday will be offered for peace in our troubled world. Join in the rosary at 9.40am  praying for peace, and / or  at Stations of the Cross at 7pm.
 
Coffee Morning  - As part of the Parish's pledge to become a Dementia Friendly Parish, our coffee morning today, Sunday, will be to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer Scotland – East Dunbartonshire.from Alzheimer Scotland will also be on hand to provide information and. Please come along for tea and a blether and help support this worthwhile, local charity. Thanks.Maguire.
 
Legion of Mary - Mother of Mercy Praesidium is recruiting this weekend for both active and (auxiliary prayer) members for the Legion of Mary in St Andrew's Parish. Member numbers are low at present for the important work undertaken on behalf of Fr Mackle and the parish. It would be lovely to welcome some new members to join us.  We have a prayer meeting in the Hut every Monday at 5pm. Please think of joining and help with  to help with Care Home visits to sick and elderly housebound parishioners, as well as visits to families who have had the celebration of a baptism or First Holy Communion.
 
Messengers Meeting,  Monday 19th February, Lower Hall. All Messengers please attend meeting for Easter Reachout. Area Leaders at 7.30pm, and Messengers at 8pm.
 
Sacrament of Reconciliation- Dates and Times for Primary Three (First Confession) - During the Season of Lent (17th February- 1stApril) Saturdays 10.30am – 11.00am; & 5.15pm – 5.45pm; Sundays 9.15 – 9.40am. Family members are encouraged, too, to take the opportunity to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Stations of the Cross – Fridays in Lent at 7pm.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Please consider coming to spend some time in adoration and prayer each Saturday, especially during Lent.

Lentfest 2018   - The Dementia Journey with Faith and the Arts  One of the many events of Lentfest, a day devoted to the positive impact of Faith and the Arts on those living with dementia, supported by Alzheimer Scotland, Playlists for Life and the Scottish Catholic Medical Association. Speakers include Dr Adrian Treloar, author of a book ‘Hope on a Difficult Journey, specialising in Dementia and the Catholic Faith.  Saturday 24 March, 10am – 4pm, Our Lady & St George’s, Sandwood Road, Penilee, G52 2QE. Safeguarding Training - Volunteers who work in the parish with children and/or vulnerable adults, who haven't been free to attend previous safeguarding training meetings, are asked to attend either a training morning 10.30am – 12.30pm on 10th March in St Eunan’s, Clydebank;  or at 196 Clyde Street from 7-9pm on 22nd March. Next Lenten talk for cluster parishes by Monsignor Ryan – this Thursday 22nd February, 7pm - 8.30pm on The Spanish Mystics, “The Future of our Past” - St Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross and St Ignatius of Loyola. The talk will take place in the upper hall, and include refreshments.

Remember in your prayersBennett and John Johnstonare journeying through RCIA.Rite of Election, which is a special stage with prayers as part of the RCIA process, will take place in St Andrew’s Cathedral today, Sunday 18th February at 3pm. 
 
To mark the Centenary of Catholic Education, Stephen McKinney, Professor of Education at the University of Glasgow,  will give two talks on Thursdays 1st and 8th March  7pm - 8.30pm on “1918-2018: 100 years of Scottish Catholic School Education “. All are most welcome. 
The talks will take place in the upper hall, and include refreshments. Centenary theme,
“Catholic Schools – Good for Scotland”.
 
Also, to mark the Centenary, there will be a Mass at 7pm this Wednesday at The Immaculate Conception for all former and present pupils and families and all past and present members of teaching and support staff of John Paul Academy.
 
Can you bring an extra tin during Lent?  Drumchapel Foodbank have expressed their thanks for the tremendous support given by our parish weekly. If you're able to bring even just one tinned meal to Mass during Lent and leave in the porch, these would be very gratefully received. Many thanks
