Father Donnelly’s Retirement—On Friday 4th October Father Donnelly retires from St. Andrew’s Parish where he has served for the last 18 years.  To celebrate and mark his retirement there will be a function on Sunday 26th October, following the Vigil Mass.  Please keep the date free and more details will follow shortly.

Vocations to the Priesthood—Evening of Catechesis, Prayer and Fraternity—As part of our diocesan vocations programme we will be introducing a monthly evening of recollection for those who are in the early stages of discerning a vocation to the priesthood.  These evenings will take place on the 2nd Friday of each month beginning in September.  Each evening will consist of a period of catechesis followed by some guided meditation in front of the Blessed Sacrament, finishing with some social time.  If interested contact Fr John Keenan ([email protected] 0141 339 4315) or Fr Ross Campbell ([email protected] 0141 776 1063).

National Pilgrimage in honour of St. Columba—At Carfin on Sunday 8th September 2013 at 3.00 p.m. See notice in the porch of the church for details.

Ladies Cabaret and Fun Casino Night in Aid of the White Lily Fund which raises money for Cancer Research in the West of Scotland—Friday 25th October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Champagne Reception 3 Course Meal, Cabaret and Fun Casino Tables.  As always it will be a great night.  Tickets cost £45.00 each.  Ladies only so why not get together with some friends and take a table of 10.  For more information and Ticket, please contact Angela Bruno on 07730615045.

SPRED—(Special Religious Development) has been part of the pastoral and catechetical life of the Archdiocese since 1984.  Our parish group is a small community of faith meeting on Wednesday evening during school term-time, and we would welcome new volunteers to help our friends with learning disabilities take their rightful place within the parish community.  No previous experience is necessary as training is given.  More information is available on the SPRED web-site www.spred.org.uk.  If you are at all interested, please phone Catherine (9420-6984) or Lorna (942-0696)

Mission Appeal—Last weekend for the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception—many thanks for the excellent response £3,060.00.

Quarterly Collection—is now due.

Vocations Awareness Week—Begins Sunday 15th September.  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from after 12 noon Mass until Benediction at 5.00 p.m.

East Dunbartonshire Council Primary School Estate Statutory Consultation—Period ends on Friday 11th October 2013.  The Council announces a public meeting at St. Andrew’s Primary School on Monday 16th September at 7.30 p.m. as an opportunity to ask questions about the proposals and to raise issues or concerns.  

Assisted Parishes Collection—8th September Special Second Collections.

Junior Children’s Liturgy—Many thanks for the lovely Birthday Cards last week-end. Father Donnelly

Bearsden Festival —13th—15th September—for programme information, see notice in the church porch.  For the African Children’s choir, some tickets are available at the piety stall.  Adults £5.00—Children £3.00.

Please note— the marriage event planned for 7th September is postponed until further notice.  

Late Summer Music in Memory of Martin Rossi—Martin, a former pupil of St. Andrew’s RC Secondary School tragically died from epilepsy in September last year aged just 25.  A fabulous young man who touched many peoples’ lives through his love of sport, music, charitable work with HCPT and many others on Sunday 15th September in the Stevenson Hall of the Royal Conservatoire of Music

Children’s Choir Dates—September 2nd, September 8th, November 10th, November 17th, December 8th, December 15th.  All at 10.00 a.m. Mass.  For queries contact Annamaria Strachan 942-9799 or 07749715514.

Altar Servers—Any young member of the Parish (who has made his/her First Holy Communion) who would like to become an Altar Server is invited to contact Chris Sanders (942-7519) or Fr. Donnelly, who will gladly take your details.  Training sessions are due to commence soon.

Daybreak—A small local group aimed at providing help for those with varying degrees of memory loss.  We meet every Thursday afternoon from 1.30 p.m. till 3.30 p.m. in the New Halls of New Kilpatrick Church.  We offer opportunities, in a caring and supportive environment, to socialise, enjoy craft, board and card games, singing, controlled exercises, conversation and reminiscences, finishing with a cuppa!  There are currently a few vacancies for new members.  Contact Margaret Ballingall at 0141 942 5351.

The Beginning Experience—are holding a weekend for those who find themselves alone again through divorce, separation or bereavement.  The weekend will take place from 11th—13thOctober 2013 at the Conforti Centre, Coatbridge.  For details contact Ros on 0131 669 0003 or e mail [email protected]

Special Service Glasgow Cathedral High Street—for those who have lost babies at any stage of pregnancy, birth or infancy.  11.00 a.m. on Saturday 21st September.
