Today is SPRED Sunday. SPecial REligious Development. SPRED works within the Church to nourish accepting and inclusive communities for people with learning disabilities. We are very blessed to have our own parish SPRED group. Please pick up a SPRED leaflet from the porch. The second collection will be taken up to support SPRED’s charitable work.
Our congratulations to Rev Nick Pryce, who was ordained a Permanent Deacon here in St Andrew's on Friday evening. We wish Nick all the very best, and may the years ahead, serving as a Deacon in the archdiocese, be filled with many blessings.
Congratulations, too, to our parishioner, Gordon Reid, on becoming a Knight of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem during a ceremony this weekend (Saturday) in the Cathedral. The purpose of the Knights is to support the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

Carfin - the rain fell throughout the day on 13th October 1917, one hundred years ago in Fatima. It didn’t cease at all the whole day at Carfin last Sunday for the Fatima Mass celebrations. All pilgrims bravely weathered the inclement weather, and all our parish pilgrims arrived back last Sunday night, somewhat a little later than anticipated, but, thankfully, safe and sound. Save the date for next year – 2nd Sept.

Vocations Awareness Week – 11th - 18th Sept. is our annual celebration of our Church dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education. As part of St Andrew’s Primary marking this important week for Vocations Awareness, Fr Mackle will meet with the P7 pupils and their teachers Tuesday 12th Sept 2pm to have a chat about vocations, which will include Q&A, and they will be able to ask any questions they might have. Pray for vocations, especially for our archdiocese. Prayer cards available in the porch. Vocations Vigil – 15th Sept 7pm Turnbull Hall. All most welcome.

Gavin's Mill - the new Fair Trade centre in Milngavie is run by volunteers. Shifts run from 9.30 - 1.00 and 1.00 - 4.30 and even 1 shift a week or a fortnight would help.
Aid to the Church in Need will make an appeal at all the Masses on the weekend 23rd/24th September. After the vigil Mass on the 23rd at 7pm in the Lower Hall, ACN will give a presentation on their work, and there will be an opportunity for Q&A. Teas and coffees will be served. All are most welcome. Organised by the parish's Justice and Peace Group. An invitation has been extended to all in the Association of Bearsden Churches. ACN helps and assists persecuted and oppressed Christians around the world.
Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated for P7 pupils of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes in St Joseph’s Church 7pm 6th February 2018.

Mary’s Meals clothing collection. Volunteers from Mary's Meals will be here next weekend 16th / 17th September to collect any used clothing. A second collection will be taken up to support this important charity.
