Congratulations to the young people of the parishes of St Joseph and St Andrew who were Confirmed by Archbishop Tartaglia on Tuesday 6th February at a memorable and moving ceremony in St Joseph’s. Congratulations, too, to all parents, sponsors and members of staff of St Joseph’s and St Andrew’s. To the catechists and to all who were involved in the liturgy, sincere and grateful thanks. Please keep the Confirmands in your prayers. Sometime after Easter we’ll get something organised to bring together, for some catechesis,  all the young people who were Confirmed.
 
Coffee Morning Sunday  18th February. As part of the Parish's pledge to become a Dementia Friendly Parish, our coffee morning on Sunday 18th Feb will be to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer Scotland – East Dunbartonshire.from Alzheimer Scotland will also be on hand to provide information and. Please come along for tea and a blether and help support this very worthwhile, local charity. Thanks.Maguire.
 
After each Mass on 17th / 18th February the Legion of Mary - Mother of Mercy Praesidium will be recruiting for both active and (auxiliary prayer) members for the Legion of Mary in St Andrew's Parish. As member numbers are low at present for the important work undertaken on behalf of Fr Mackle and the parish, it would be lovely to welcome some new members to join us in our Prayer meeting in the Parish hut every Monday at5pm, and to help with Care Home work and visits to sick and elderly housebound parishioners, as well as visits to families who have had the celebration of a baptism or First Holy Communion.
 
Dates and Times for Primary Three Sacrament of Reconciliation(First Confession) - During The Season of Lent (17th February- 1st) Saturdays 10.30am – 11.00am; & 5.15pm – 5.45pm; Sundays 9.15 – 9.40am.
 
Ash Wednesday--14th February Distribution of Ashes at Mass at 10am and  7.00pm.Ashes can be collected from the sacristy for any housebound parishioners. 
A day of fast and abstinence.
 
Short Term Pledge for Lent (Pioneer Association) - See notice in porch..

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Please consider coming to spend some time in adoration and prayer each Saturday, especially during Lent.
 
Lentfest 2018--events programme available in the porch. Visit www.lentfest.co.uk  An imaginative fusion of faith and the arts.
 
Forty Hours Eucharistic Adoration – 4th, 5th & 6th March. More details soon.

New Hymns which we have been learning for the Confirmation Mass are in the inside back cover of the Supplementary Hymnal.
 
Messengers Meeting,  Monday 19th February, Lower Hall. All Messengers please attend meeting for Easter Reachout. Area Leaders at 7.30pm, and Messengers at 8pm.
 
Lenten talks for cluster parishes.Monsignor Ryan will bethe followingtalks - Thursday 15th February, 7pm -8.30pm on Royal Scots College, Spain. Madrid 1627, Valladolid 1771, Salamanca 1988. Thursday 22nd February, 7pm - 8.30pm on The Spanish Mystics, “The Future of our Past” - St Teresa of Avila, St John of the Cross and St Ignatius of Loyola. Both talks will take place in the upper hall, and include refreshments.
 
Lourdes – to mark the 160th Anniversary of the Apparitions at Lourdes, and the 70th Anniversary of Glasgow Lourdes Hospitalite, our parish would like to sponsor 1 / 2 people to travel with the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes. To mark the centenary of Catholic Education, all former and present pupils and families; all past and present members of teaching and support staff of John Paul Academy are invited  to a Mass at 7pm on 21st February at The Immaculate Conception, 2049, Maryhill Road.
 
Remember in your prayers Neil Bennett and John Johnston are journeying through RCIA.Rite of Election, which is a special stage with prayers as part of the RCIA process, will take place in St Andrew’s Cathedral next Sunday 18th February at 3pm. 
 
Racial Justice Sunday Service will take place in Cardonald Parish Church, 2155 Paisley Rd West today,  Sunday 11 Feb at  4 pm. This is an ecumenical service. The Liturgy is arranged by members of our Glasgow Justice and Peace Commission. Other readings will include the words of Martin Luther King on the 30th anniversary of his death and a contribution from Margo Upritchard of the Space. Can you bring an extra tin during Lent?  Drumchapel Foodbank have expressed their thanks for the tremendous support given by our parish weekly. If you're able to bring even just one tinned meal to Mass during Lent and leave in the porch, these would be very gratefully received. Many thanks
