Carfin - Unfortunately, for the second year the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will not be possible due to the remaining restrictions. This year, instead, for parishes of the archdiocese, Holy Mass will be celebrated at Carfin Grotto next Sunday 18th July at 3pm with the opportunity for those who are in need to receive Sacramental Anointing of the Sick.
Pope Francis on Twitter and Instagram. The Pope's Twitter (@Pontifex) and Instagram (@Franciscus) accounts are worth following for daily content relating to the Pope a d the Church in the world. Pope Francis uses his Twitter account to highlight topical issues as well as content from his writings.
The monthly Pope video is also a great resource of contemporary commentary by the Holy Father on current issues. The videos are available www.the Pope video.org
Liturgy Update At our most recent Parish Liturgy Group meeting, it was agreed, that in order to allow for greater congregational participation at Mass, for the foreseeable future, the Gloria, Psalm and Alleluia will be said. As East Dunbartonshire is still in level #2, congregational singing is still not permitted.

Nourished by the Eucharist ~ Please, start thinking about coming back to Mass, if you haven't already. Don't think that your coming to Mass will be depriving someone of a seat. You won't be. Come and be nourished by the Eucharist, the Body of Christ. It will be lovely to see you. Take care. If you haven't registered yet for the booking process for Mass, it's easy to do. Go to www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk No need to book for weekday Mass.
All in St Nicholas’ Primary who will be starting P6 in August are invited to become a Pope Frances Faith Award candidate. Invitations to enrol will be going out in the new school term, and parish sign up will be arranged at that time too.
Congratulations, again, and well done to Kirsty Kennedy and David Docherty in being successful in achieving their Caritas Award. If you will be in your final year of school after summer, or just finished High School and are interested in becoming a candidate for the 2021 / 2022 Caritas award, speak to Fr. Mackle or contact Elizabeth Reid at [email protected]
Children’s Liturgy: each week in the form of a video of the week’s Gospel reading. Available at : https://www.rpbooks.co.uk/celebrate-following-your-faith This is an excellent resource for parents to use until the children’s liturgy at Mass resumes.
Parish PayPal. Due to complications, through no fault of our own, the parish will be discontinuing with PayPal. Those who kindly set up a standing order with PayPal would be advised to cancel. All electronic offerings to St Andrew’s parish are always gratefully received and would now need to be made direct to the parish. Many thanks
Your Giving to St Andrew’s Our parish’s annual accounts have been submitted to the archdiocese. A massive Thank You to all our parishioners who have continued to support our parish over this past year. We have, like many other charities, seen our income greatly reduced over the past 12 months. This is, of course, because of the lockdowns and closures and there being fewer people being able to attend church. Thank you, once more, in these difficult times for your generosity towards your parish. Fr Mackle
Year of St Joseph - Don't forget you can write out your petitions and place them under the sleeping St Joseph statue in the church grounds. It's also possible to send in your special petitions by post in a sealed envelope.
Parish Safeguarding Coordinator – I want, on behalf of the parishioners, to thank Paul Mazoyer for serving as Coordinator, for the past couple of years, in the parish's vital area of Safeguarding. I am very grateful to Paul for all his efforts and work, which has been very much appreciated. Clare Thompson has very kindly agreed to take over the role of Parish Safeguarding Coordinator, and I am very grateful to Clare for her willingness to attend to this area of parish life. Clare's and the Archdiocese of Glasgow's contact details are available from the ‘Safeguarding in the Catholic Church’ posters, copies of which are on the church and hall noticeboards. Our 2020 Safeguarding audit was completed earlier in the year by Paul and returned to the archdiocesan Safeguarding Office. For Archdiocesan Safeguarding information and updates, visit rcag.org.uk Fr Mackle
