"Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them."

If you or someone you know are interested in becoming Catholic, or if you know anyone who might be interested in the Church, why not sign up for St Andrew's RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)? This group – which meets from after summer through to Easter / Pentecost each year – is for those who are interested in becoming Catholic. No commitment is made until fairly late in the annual process. For more information, call 942 4635 or [email protected]

Carfin -  Unfortunately, for the second year the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will not be possible due to the remaining restrictions.  This year, instead, for parishes of the archdiocese, Holy Mass will be celebrated at Carfin Grotto next Sunday 18th July at 3pm with the opportunity for those who are in need to receive Sacramental Anointing of the Sick.

Pope Francis on Twitter and Instagram. The Pope's Twitter (@Pontifex) and Instagram (@Franciscus) accounts are worth following for daily content relating to the Pope a d the Church in the world. Pope Francis uses his Twitter account to highlight topical issues as well as content from his writings.

The monthly Pope video is also a great resource of contemporary commentary by the Holy Father on current issues. The videos are available www.the Pope video.org

Liturgy Update  At our most recent Parish Liturgy Group meeting, it was agreed, that in order to allow for greater congregational participation at Mass, for the foreseeable future, the Gloria, Psalm and Alleluia will be said.  As East Dunbartonshire is still in level #2, congregational singing is still not permitted.

A Senior Server is needed for one day a week at the 10am Mass ideally for Monday or Wednesday.    If you can help, please say to Geoff or call 942 4635 or email [email protected]

Drumchapel Foodbank  Your recent generous cash donations handed in to the parish for Drumchapel Foodbank amounted to £550  allowing a couple of cars to be filled with food items at the cash and taken straight to the foodbank.

Nourished by the Eucharist ~ Please, start thinking about coming back to Mass, if you haven't already.  Don't think that your coming to Mass will be depriving someone of a seat. You won't be. Come and be nourished by the Eucharist, the Body of Christ.  It will be lovely to see you. Take care.  If you haven't registered yet for the booking process for Mass, it's easy to do.    Go to  www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk   No need to book for weekday Mass.

All in St Nicholas’ Primary who will be starting P6 in August are invited to become a Pope Frances Faith Award candidate. Invitations to enrol will be going out in the new school term, and parish sign up will be arranged at that time too.

Congratulations, again, and well done to Kirsty Kennedy and David Docherty in being successful in achieving their Caritas Award. If you will be in your final year of school after summer, or just finished High School and are interested in becoming a candidate for the 2021 / 2022 Caritas award, speak to Fr. Mackle or contact Elizabeth Reid at [email protected]

Children’s Liturgy:  each week in the form of a video of the week’s Gospel reading. Available at : https://www.rpbooks.co.uk/celebrate-following-your-faith   This is an excellent resource for parents to use until the children’s liturgy at Mass resumes.

Parish PayPal.  Due to complications, through no fault of our own, the parish will be discontinuing with PayPal. Those who kindly set up a standing order with PayPal would be advised to cancel. All electronic offerings to St Andrew’s parish are always gratefully received and would now need to be made direct to the parish. Many thanks

Your Giving to St Andrew’s   Our parish’s annual accounts have  been submitted to the archdiocese.  A massive Thank You to all our parishioners who have continued to support our parish over this past year.  We have, like many other charities, seen our income greatly reduced over the past 12 months. This is, of course, because of the lockdowns and closures and there being fewer people being able to attend church. Thank you, once more, in these difficult times for your generosity towards your parish.   Fr Mackle

Year of St Joseph - Don't forget you can write out your petitions and place them under the sleeping St Joseph statue in the church grounds. It's also possible to send in your special petitions by post in a sealed envelope.

Parish Safeguarding Coordinator – I want, on behalf of the parishioners, to thank Paul Mazoyer for serving as Coordinator, for the past couple of years,  in the parish's vital area of Safeguarding. I am very grateful to Paul for all his efforts and work, which has been very much appreciated. Clare Thompson has very kindly agreed to take over the role of Parish Safeguarding Coordinator, and I am very grateful to Clare for her willingness to attend to this area of parish life. Clare's and the Archdiocese of Glasgow's contact details are available from the ‘Safeguarding in the Catholic Church’ posters, copies of which are on the church and hall noticeboards. Our 2020 Safeguarding audit was completed earlier in the year by Paul and returned to the archdiocesan Safeguarding Office.      For Archdiocesan Safeguarding information and updates, visit rcag.org.uk    Fr Mackle

Archdiocesan Safeguarding ~ All volunteers in the parish who work with children, young people and adults with additional support needs who haven't yet attended training, must attend the mandatory Part 1 Induction Training.  The same volunteers must also attend the mandatory Part 2 Training. Please contact the Safeguarding Office  - [email protected] to register for video training using Zoom.
Induction Training Part 1dates are 14th July and 18th August at noon.
Training Part 2 dates are 22nd July, 2nd & 19th August and 6th September at 7pm.

Drumchapel Foodbank. Regularly your donations are dropped off at the foodbank by our parish volunteers. Thanks for continuing to give the foodbank your support.

Our parish’s soup-run’s volunteers continue to collect food donations from  M&S Byres Rd & Milngavie for delivery  to Drumchapel & St Gregory’s Foodbanks, the Wayside Club & Aspire. Many thanks for good response to the recent appeal for help for holiday cover.

If you don't use social media, but would like to be kept posted, then all that's asked for is your email address  – you can unsubscribe at any time – it's all clearly marked.
