Monsignor James Canon Clancy, a greatly loved and appreciated former assistant priest of St Andrew’s, Bearsden, and former Vicar General of our archdiocese, has died. Monsignor Clancy passed away in the Royal Infirmary Monday morning. Reception the Remains with Vigil for the deceased will take place at St Michael’s, Dumbarton on Sunday 12th November at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday 13th Nov. at 12 noon. May he rest in peace.
 
50th Anniversary Year Photo Collage. If you have photos of any of the events which have taken place during the Jubilee Year, such as the NET RetreatYouth, Walk to Schoenstatt, Caritas Awards, RCIA Easter Vigil, Big Band Night, Motherwell Choir Evening, Photography Exhibition, Parish Mission, Jubilee Embroidery Group, Summer BBQ, Coffee Mornings, Monsignor Ryan’s Golden Jubilee, Doors Open Day, Jubilee Retreat to Iona,Garden please send them to [email protected] this Friday 17th November.
Also, if you have photographs of a baptism, wedding or First Holy Communion celebrated in 2017, and would like them to be part of the Golden Jubilee Collage, please send them in by email.
 
St Andrew’s Celebration Music and Quiz Night - Saturday 25th November
Tickets £5 include “tea and buns”. Please come along to share an evening with some of the parish’s talented musicians as we celebrate the feast of our patron, St Andrew. There will also be a chance to show off your knowledge of all things Scottish in a quiz with rounds on music, sport, geography, history and famous Scots. Donations of prizes for a raffle, which will take place on the night, will be gratefully received. Proceeds from the raffle and from all our jubilee events will be donated to a chosen charity. This is a BYOB event.
 
Jubilee Pop Up Choir will perform two or three songs on the 25th Nov at the St Andrew’s Music Night. Next rehearsal 3 - 4.30pm today, Sunday, in the church, and final one will be next Sunday same time.
 
We are very grateful to the pupils of Bearsden Academy and Mr McKeown who are supporting, once again this year, our Soup-run’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal for the homeless.
 
Golden Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Sunday 3rd December at 10.30am, followed by a buffet in the upper hall. Archbishop Tartaglia will be the principal celebrant. Everyone’s invited. Please come along and join in the celebration.  Remember, there will be no 10am or noon Masses on the 3rd Dec.
 
As part of our Golden Jubilee Year’s celebrations, weforward toour 10am MassSt Aloysius pupils schola,with musical director, Mr Kealey.

SCIAF annual Remembrance Mass -Tuesday 21stat St Francis Xavier’s Church, Carfin7 pm.All most welcome. Principal celebrant -Bishop Toal.  Tea and coffee will be served in the hall after Mass.
 
St. Andrew’s Golden Jubilee Year Christmas Party - Join us on Saturday 9th December in the upper hall 2-4 pm for tea, coffee, mince pies, kids entertainment & Santa - £6 per family (optional, bring a gift for Santa & receive a chocolate lolly, gifts are distributed throughout Glasgow, please mark GIRL or BOY & suitable age. Piety Stall rota Sincere thanks to everyone who assists with serving in the   Piety Stall – we appreciate it very much.We are, however, still short of volunteers, particularly after the Vigil Mass.If you could spare 15 minutes after Mass and are aged over 16, we would really appreciate your help.The rota sheet for November and December is now on the piety stall door. Volunteers wanted!!!  The White Lily Charity, founded by one of our very own parishioners, Mrs Angela Bruno, MBE, and which raises funds for research into, and equipment for, all types of cancer, in the west of Scotland, has been allocated a ‘ bag packing’ slot at Asda, Bearsden on Saturday 25th November from 10am-4pm. We are looking for volunteers to help us by working a 2 hour shift either :- 10-12, 12-2 or 2-4pm, so not terribly onerous.All family members welcome, old and young! Please join us at the St Andrew’s Parish Golden Jubilee Christmas Fair next Sunday 19th November after the 10am and 12 noon Masses.This will be similar to last year’s, with a selection of charities from the parish at the event.All profits from the sale of Piety Stall cards and gifts go to St Andrew’s Church funds. Tea, coffee and home baking will be served after both masses in aid of The White Lily Fund Charity.This charity was founded by one of our own parishioners, Mrs Angela Bruno MBE, and raises funds for research into and equipment for all types of cancer in the west of Scotland and has raised over £1 million to date.
 
Assisted Parishes Fund  - Second Collection taken up 11th/12th Nov gives   financial assistance to parishes who otherwise would struggle to make ends meet.
 
Taize Prayer at St Margaret’s, Clydebank - every second Monday of the month, 7.00pm – 8.00pm beginning on Monday 13th November. All are most welcome.

Dementia Friends Session provided by representatives from Alzheimer Scotland. Recommended for those who undertake voluntary work within the Parish visiting the sick and the elderly i.e. Extraordinary Ministers, Legion of Mary, SVDP, anyone caring for family/friends with Dementia and anyone who has an interest in improving their awareness of Dementia. Parents Meetings – for First Confession, 11th January 2018 at 7pm. For First Holy Communion, 18th January 2018 at 7pm. Both meetings in the upper hall. First Holy Communion dates – Sundays 13th and 20th May 2018 at 12noon Mass.
 
Confirmation preparation meeting - Tuesday, 16th January 2018 at 7pm in St Joseph's for parents and sponsors. On the same evening and at the same time in St Joseph’s, catechists of the two parishes will gather with the P7s to lead them in preparing for Confirmation.
 
Primary 7 parents - The Piety Stall has a selection of books about the lives of the Saints on sale which may be helpful with preparation for Confirmation.
