"Well done, my good and faithful servant.
Since you were faithful in small matters,
I will give you great responsibilities."

Christmas Fair – today after 10am and 12 noon Masses.  A good selection of cards and gifts on sale from a variety of stalls. As always, all profits from the Piety Stall will go to Church funds. All precautions will be followed.

SPRED sales table ~ an eclectic collection of handcrafted items including Christmas bunting, novelty figures with chocolates, chocolate orange covers, wall hangings, scarves, tree decorations, baby/ toddler hat, mitt sets, baby blankets, shopping bags etc. We would very much appreciate your support. Thank you.

Children’s Liturgy: each week in the form of a video of the week’s Gospel reading. This is an excellent resource for parents to use until the children’s liturgy at Mass resumes. Available at: https://www.rpbooks.co.uk/celebrate-following-your-faith

Catholic Education Week - Education Sunday will be 21th November - reflecting upon the Catholic school as a community of celebration and worship, with Jesus Christ at its centre. We look forward to welcoming pupils and staff from St Nicholas’, Turnbull High and
St Aloysius’. There will also be an appeal for teachers, so anyone who would like
information on becoming a teacher in a Catholic school should please contact the Scottish
Catholic Education Service: mail@sces.uk.com.

Legion of Mary – meets on Tuesdays at 7pm in the Hut. New members always welcome. The Legion’s Memorial Mass for deceased members will be at 10am on Monday 29th November.

Natural Family Planning …God’s Way – Nature’s Way. The Billings Ovulation Method of Natural Family Planning Regulation is a successful family planning method for couples having difficulty conceiving or simply wanting to plan a family safely and naturally. It is proven to be 99% effective in avoiding pregnancy with no side effects. It also strengthens marriages and focuses on couples successfully planning a family together in equal partnership. Interested in sharing this knowledge with others? Apply for our flexible, online Teacher Training Corse to become an accredited teacher today. For further information, contact Fertility Care Scotland at  info@fertilitycare.org.uk

The church is now open on Saturdays 10am – 11am. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet.  Confessions available throughout . Daily Rosary has resumed. Mondays in the church (live streamed 9.30am ), and Tuesday to Friday 9.30am in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

An Appeal for Parish Messengers – Our Messenger system enables our Reachout to be delivered to around 1300 homes. As a number of Messengers have finished up recently after many years of faithful service, we are looking for new volunteers for the following areas – Baljaffray, Canniesburn, Castlehill, Kilmardinny, Mosshead, Switchback, Thorn, & Westerton North & South. Each Messenger normally delivers to a small number of homes. If you are able to volunteer, please email Jim McLaughlin at jamesmclaughlin242@gmail.com

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - 14th November (Remembrance Sunday 2021)War should belong to the tragic past, to history: it should find no place on humanity’s agenda for the future.  Pope Saint John Paul II

Transform lives this Christmas Real Gifts - SCIAF’s range of ethical Christmas gifts which not only provide joy to those you give them to, but also mean real change for families living in poverty.  To find out more, SCIAF’s parish catalogue is now available at the back of the Church, or alternatively you can visit sciaf.org.uk/realgifts

Note your attendance at Mass through the QR Code . You can now log your attendance at Mass using the NHS Scotland Test and Protect CHECK IN SCOTLAND App. You may already be familiar with this app if you visit restaurants, or other hospitality venues. To use, simply download the ‘Check in Scotland’ app onto your smart phone and use its QR reader to register. QR signs are dotted about the driveway and entrance to the church. And don’t worry, if you don’t have a smart phone, you can still register your name with a Steward. Hopefully, this will make access to the church much quicker  now that winter is closing in.

Arrangements for Christmas Masses.  This year, we look forward to welcoming as many Parishioners and their families and friends as possible to our series of Christmas Masses.
The Masses will be
  • Christmas Vigil – 5:00 p.m.
  • (Early) Midnight Mass – 9:00 p.m.
  • Christmas Day Masses  – 10:00 a.m. (live streamed on YouTube)
  • 12:00 Noon.
We will have 25% of the church dedicated to social distancing, with a total capacity in the church of between 200 and 225 people.
We will be able to accommodate a further 150 Parishioners in the Upper Hall with minimal social distancing. The Lower Hall will provide additional social distanced space and will be able to accommodate about 40 Parishioners with 1 m social distancing in place. Stewards and Passkeepers will assist in the management of this.
As you will know, Mass at this time of the year can be busy. If you turn up for Mass once these capacities are reached, you will need to either join through live streaming or come to another Mass.
We would also ask that you note that you will not be able to reserve seats for family members and friends who may arrive after you. Consequently, family groups need to arrive together. We would also ask that those who have mobility issues or need more time to get into the church arrive early to miss the rush and to ensure they get a seat.
We will be using QR Codes to help manage access. So to aid entry to the buildings, please download the NHS Scotland ‘Check in Scotland’ app.
There will also be Stewards available to take your details if you don’t have the app.

We really look forward to welcoming you to Mass at Christmas at St Andrew’s. Come early to make sure you get a seat and also to allow a quiet period of contemplation ahead of Mass.

In this Year of St Joseph, please visit our sleeping St Joseph statue. You can write out a petition and place it under the statue. Let St Joseph ‘sleep on it’.
