"Father of all that is good, keep us faithful in
serving you, for to serve you is our lasting joy."

The St Andrew's Parish Christmas Fair – today after 10am and 12noon Masses. A selection of charities have stalls, and Teas / coffees and home baking are being served. This month’s coffee morning is raising funds for ' Inclusive Skating ' a registered charity, whose goal is to develop a programme that will include all skaters with an impairment and will allow them to participate in all competitions and events on an equal basis. The charity is also campaigning for the sport to be included in the paralympics. One of our parishioners, Margarita Sweeney Baird, is the founder and driving force behind this charity. So please come in to the hall and support this event.

Please think about who you would like to nominate to become a member of the Parish Pastoral Council. Nomination forms will be available soon.  Members are appointed to serve a three year term and membership is open to active parishioners over the age of 16.  We are particularly looking for parishioners who would represent, on the PPC, the youth of the parish.

Prisoners Week  16-23 November.  This year’s theme is ‘Behind the Mask’ and offers an opportunity to see others – and perhaps also ourselves – differently. Setting aside labels, categories, fronts and masks, there’s a chance to see people as people. Perhaps such things are a part of the journey towards safer communities and more fulfilled lives? Pick up a Prisoners Week prayer card from the porch. Visit www.prisonersweek.org.uk

Remember the Dead—The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered up every day during the month of November for the Holy Souls. Remembering the souls of the faithful departed, and praying for them is a “holy and wholesome thought.”

"The Open Wound: Slavery in the Modern World" - speakers: Jenny Marra, MSP and Canon Robert Hill - 29 Nov, Ogilvie Centre, Rose Street, from 11am until 3.00pm.  Coffee from 10.30 am. Lunch provided.  All are very welcome.

St Andrew’s Day this year, in the Church’s liturgy, is transferred to the 1st December, as the 30th is a Sunday. We will celebrate our parish feast day at the 10am Mass on Monday, 1st December. Free Teas / coffees and St Andrew’s feast day cakes will be served in the hall after Mass.  All are invited.

Children’s Liturgy. All P1 – P3 & P4-P7 leaders / helpers please note that the final children’s liturgy training evening will be this Thursday 20th Nov at 7pm in the hall.

Liturgy Group Meeting – Tues, 18th Nov 7.30pm in the chapel-house. If anyone has any matters they would like discussed, please contact [email protected]

Altar Servers’ Training Sessions.  Saturday 15th November (straight after the Vigil Mass) and Sunday 16th November (straight after the 10am Mass).  It is only necessary  to attend one of the two sessions. They are unlikely to last more than half an hour.

The Christmas Soup Run will take place on Friday 12th of December. We are appealing for gifts of gents toiletries (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), socks, underwear, scarves, gloves etc.   A box will be available at the back of the church for collection. No soup or sandwiches will be required that evening.  Instead we would be grateful for donations of mince pies! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Phyllis Littlejohn on 0141 570 1343.

Please help the passkeepers tidy up the Church for the next Mass by placing your hymn books and Mass card neatly on the ledge in front of you, and by removing any litter and abandoned bulletins. Many thanks.

Fabric & Finance Coordinator – We are looking for someone to take over from Brian Donnelly as Fabric & Finance Coordinator from January 2015. If you would like to discuss this, please contact Brian on 942 6085 or Father Mackle on 942 4635.

Choir Dates for this term Nov 16th, Dec 14th, 21st & 25th (to be confirmed).  All at the 10am Mass. Any queries, call Annamaria Strachan 942 9799/07749715514, or email: [email protected]

The Scottish Parliament has begun its consideration of the assisted suicide bill. Although previous attempts have been unsuccessful, there have been many changes in the MSPs since the last bill. It will be important to make politicians aware of our opposition to assisted suicide. A petition will soon be available to sign or, in the meantime, you can sign electronically at www.carenotkilling.org.uk/scotland/petition
