Members are appointed to serve a three year term and membership is open to active parishioners over the age of 16. Prisoners Week 16-23 November. This year’s theme is ‘Behind the Mask’ and offers an opportunity to see others – and perhaps also ourselves – differently. Setting aside labels, categories, fronts and masks, there’s a chance to see people as people. Perhaps such things are a part of the journey towards safer communities and more fulfilled lives? Remember the Dead—The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered up every day during the month of November for the Holy Souls. Remembering the souls of the faithful departed, and praying for them is a “holy and wholesome thought.”

St Andrew’s Day this year, in the Church’s liturgy, is transferred to the 1st December, as the 30th is a Sunday. We will celebrate our parish feast day at the 10am Mass on Monday, 1st December. Free Teas / coffees and St Andrew’s feast day cakes will be served in the hall after Mass. All are invited.

Altar Servers’ Training Sessions. Saturday 15th November (straight after the Vigil Mass) and Sunday 16th November (straight after the 10am Mass). It is only necessary to attend one of the two sessions. They are unlikely to last more than half an hour.
The Christmas Soup Run will take place on Friday 12th of December. We are appealing for gifts of gents toiletries (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), socks, underwear, scarves, gloves etc. A box will be available at the back of the church for collection. No soup or sandwiches will be required that evening. Instead we would be grateful for donations of mince pies! The Scottish Parliament has begun its consideration of the assisted suicide bill. Although previous attempts have been unsuccessful, there have been many changes in the MSPs since the last bill. It will be important to make politicians aware of our opposition to assisted suicide. A petition will soon be available to sign or, in the meantime, you can sign electronically at www.carenotkilling.org.uk/scotland/petition
