Youth Mass - Many thanks to everyone who helped contribute to the success of the recent Youth Mass. We are so proud and thankful to the youth for their great effort, especially WYD crew for the presentation, and to our Caritas pupils, who assisted the Youth Ministry Team with all the organisation and arrangements. Pizza was enjoyed by all in the hall afterwards. Great to see so many young people involved in the various ministries of reader, passkeeper, server, offertory procession and music. We would like to continue to build on this. If you would like to get involved on a more regular basis, please let us know.

Adult Faith Formation, Preparing for Advent 2016 – Canon Michael McMahon will be providing two talks at 7pm on Thursday 10th and 18th November in the Upper Hall to help us prepare for Advent. The first talk will explore the Lectionary and its purpose – this is the primary way in which the Church invites us to hear and understand the Lectionary, respecting as it does, both the purpose and composition of the books and the Liturgical Year and Cycle. It will also explore the Church’s Teaching on how and why the scriptures are written, how we might read and understand them and how they are a vital part of the life of the disciple. The second talk will explore the Gospel of Matthew (the Gospel for this Liturgical Year) in more detail. Who are his audience, what is the purpose of his presentation of the Good News and the adjustments we have to make to take account of the distance of time and culture between him and us. Both sessions will imitate Matthew’s Gospel as they will involve both an audio-visual presentation and opportunities for participation. Canon McMahon is the Director of Education for the Diocese of Paisley and is a graduate of the Gregorian University (degrees in Philosophy and Theology), the Pontifical Biblical Institute, Ecole Biblique and Hebrew University (Licenciate in Sacred Scripture). He has taught in various Scottish Seminaries over an 18 year period and is currently serving at St Conval’s in Linwood.
