"Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
and to God what belongs to God."

October Devotions – Rosary daily at 9.30am, and also on Sundays at 4.30pm.

Primary 6 Day Retreat - 1st Nov  Led by our Youth Ministry Team and assisted by the class teachers, Caritas candidates and Pope Francis Faith Award participants.

All Saints Day– Tuesday 1st Nov– Holy Day of Obligation – Masses – 10.00 am. and 7.00 pm.  Mass in St Nicholas' School 11am for pupils and staff only.

All Souls Day– Wednesday 2nd November – Mass - 10am.

Archbishop Nolan was present in Rome in June for the Mass at which the Holy Father blessed the Palliums of the new Archbishops.  Pope Francis’ practice is then to ask the Nuncio to bestow the Pallium on the new Archbishop in his Cathedral. This Rite will be celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Gugerotti, during a Mass in Saint Andrew’s Cathedral on Saturday 22nd October at 12.00 noon.  All are most welcome to attend this Mass on this historic day for our Archdiocese

VIGIL FOR VOCATIONS  Friday, 20th October  at the University Chaplaincy   Turnbull Hall, 15 Southpark Terrace, G12 8LG    The evening will begin with Mass at 7pm. During Holy Hour a reflection will be given by Fr. Edward Toner and Sr Catherine Farrelly, both of whom are recently new vocations to our Archdiocese.

St Andrew’s Christmas Fair - Sunday 20th Nov after 10am and 12 noon Masses, with some stalls after the Vigil.  This will be similar to pre-pandemic years, with a selection of parish charities at the event.  Could parishioners who would like to host a stall please contact either Anne MacIntosh (931 5861) or Annamaria Strachan (942 9799) before Sunday 30th October to confirm.  All profits from the Piety Stall go to Church funds.

Piety Stall rota ~ Sincere thanks to everyone who regularly volunteers to assist with running the stall, it’s been a huge help with reopening it after the pandemic. The rota sheet for October, November and December is on the door of the Piety Stall.  We are particularly short of volunteers for the 10am Sunday morning Mass – if you could sometimes spare 15 minutes after this Mass to help, we’d be most grateful.  Please note, you don’t have to commit to volunteering every week, helping occasionally when it suits you would be most appreciated.
Any questions please call Anne MacIntosh 931-5861 or Annamaria Strachan 942-9799.

Our SPRED group meets in St Andrew's Hall on alternate Wednesday evenings at 7pm. The group consists of trained catechists and learning disabled friends who are aged 21+. Our catechists and friends are parishioners of St Andrew's and St Joseph's. Sadly we have lost 3 very dear friends in the last 4 years, Joseph RIP, Richard RIP, and Andrew RIP. A SPRED group usually consists of 6 special friends. We have 2 spaces available.  Please help us to find 2 new friends.  Please contact Lorna Donnelly 942 0696 , [email protected] for further information. Thank you.
Youth CYCLE CHALLENGE Saturday 3 Dec from 12 noon in the Hall  in aid of local foodbanks. We are looking for young people from P7 onwards to take part in cycling the distance from Nazareth to Bethlehem (150km/93m) To register go to the the link on social media or email  [email protected]   We would welcome any donations for the foodbank which can be made on donations form available at the back of the church, which will also be available at the Christmas Fair on 20 November. Food donations can be made in the hall on the day so please come along and support our youth.

Children’s Choir ~ for all P4-P7s of the parish .Older children S1-6 who have missed out because of the pandemic, are most welcome to join too.  Please contact Annamaria Strachan ([email protected]) with any questions and/or to sign up.

SVDP - The parishioners of St Andrew’s have always been very generous in their support for the SVDP, even during the Covid suspension of collections. Given the more relaxed conditions at Masses and the issues that have been raised recently during Challenge Poverty Week, and that the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty occurs on Monday 17th October, it has been decided to restart SVDP collections after the Vigil and Sunday Masses this weekend.

URGENT: Oppose plans to introduce Assisted Suicide to Scotland.   Please sign Care Not Killing’s petition in the church porch. Do please take copies away for signature support.  Alternatively, you can sign online at www.carenotkilling.scot

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 16 October (World Day for the Eradication of Poverty is observed on 17 October) When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed. Saint Teresa of Kolkata

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - Water poverty especially affects Africa where large sectors of the population have no access to safe drinking water or experience droughts which impede agricultural production. Some countries have areas rich in water while others endure drastic scarcity. (#28)
