Coffee Morning - Please come along and join us today, Sunday in the Upper Hall following the 10.00 a.m. Mass for a chat, a cuppa and some delicious home baking. This month, we will be raising funds for Mary's Meals, as they will be at the church that day collecting any used clothing. Mary's Meals is a charity which provides life-changing meals to some of the world’s poorest children every day they attend school.  Many, many thanks to all who came along to the  August coffee morning. There was a great turnout and we raised the fantastic sum of £207 for St Margaret's Hospice!!
 
Thank you to all the parishioners on St Andrew’s for all their prayers, support and gifts.Trish, Caragh, Eva and I were overwhelmed by the love shown to us before and at the ordination.We could not have made it through the course without the support of the parish and we are very grateful to everyone. Gospel Reflection Sessions Monday after Morning Mass Starting on Monday the 2ndof October, Gospel Reflection Sessions will be run on the first Monday of the Month immediately after the 10am Mass in the Upper Hall. The sessions will reflect on the Gospel Reading for the upcoming Sunday. If you can, please join us for tea/coffee and a reflective and enjoyable discussion.
 
As Monsignor Ryan celebrates 50 years in ministry, Deacon Nick begins his. We had two wonderful celebrations for both occasions recently. Sincere thanks to all who looked after all the preparations for the liturgies and the receptions in the hall for both.
 
SPUC Scotland National Conference, 200 St Vincent St. Saturday 7th October. Hear top international speakers and learn about the exciting work being done to promote the right to life. 9.30 - 4pm includes lunch. Tickets £25.  Call 0141 221 2094.
 
SPRED - Thank you all for your very generous contributions to last week’s special collection. We are also looking for practical support, and aseries of meetings for potential new volunteers will be held on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting Oct 3rd at the SPRED centre in Provanmill. If you are interested, or perhaps even just curious, why not go along and find out more? - there’s no commitment at this stage. More information from Catherine (942 6984) or Lorna (942 0696)
 
Mary’s Meals clothing collection this weekend of any used clothing. A second collection will be taken up to support this important charity.

Primary Three Parents intending to present their child for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, please complete an enrolment form available in the porch and return it by 13th October.
 
Mass of Commitment for Primary Three families will be at 10am on Sunday 29th October.

Safeguarding Training. who work in the parish with children and/or vulnerable adults, who haven't previouslytraining, areto attend the training evening on Monday, 16th Oct 7-9pm in St Paul's, Whiteinch.book, please contact[email protected]tel226 5998.
 
Aid to the Church in Need will make an appeal at all the Masses next weekend 23rd/24th September. After the vigil Mass on the 23rd at 7pm in the Lower Hall, ACN will give a presentation on their work, and there will be an opportunity for Q&A. Teas and coffees will be served. All are most welcome. Organised by the parish's Justice and Peace Group. An invitation has been extended to all in the Association of Bearsden Churches. ACN helps and assists persecuted and oppressed Christians around the world.
 
Mass for Newly-Married Couples – the Archbishop will celebrate Mass for all couples married in the last few years on Sunday 8th October at 3pm in St Andrew’s Cathedral. All the recently married are most welcome, as are their family and friends.
 
As part of the Parish’s pledge to be awarded the status of Dementia Friendly Parish, we are holding a Dementia Friends Session provided by representatives from Alzheimer Scotland. This session will provide information and awareness of Dementia and is recommended for those who undertake voluntary work within the Parish visiting the sick and the elderly i.e. Extraordinary Ministers, Legion of Mary, anyone caring for family/friends with Dementia and anyone who has an interest in improving their awareness of Dementia. The first session will take place on Monday 9th October at 11am in the Lower Hall. If interested then please contact Anne O’Donnell on 0141 946 0966 or ao’[email protected].
 
Many thanks to the Jubilee Coffee Club for their generous donation of £300 towards the cost of installing a Golden Jubilee Window.
 
Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated for P7 pupils of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes in St Joseph’s Church 7pm 6th February 2018.
 
A meeting for parents and sponsors - Thursday 28th September 2017 at 7pm in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Milngavie.

Catholic Schools: Good for Scotland - Next year we will reach the centenary of the 1918 Education Act, which saw Catholic schools transfer from Diocesan control to State governance. Plans are well underway to use this centenary to celebrate the positive impact that this very important partnership between Church and State has had for Scotland. Do you have any archive material, interesting stories or photographs from your time as a student or a staff member at the teacher training college when it was in Bearsden?  SCES would love to hear from you.
