"Whoever serves me must follow me, says the Lord;
and where I am, there also will my servant be."

We hope we get the green light this Tuesday from the Scottish Government to reopen our church. If we do, this is the timetable for Holy Week. Remember, you’ll need to book for Mass on Palm Sunday weekend, 7pm Holy Thursday, 3pm Liturgy on Good Friday, and Easter weekend Masses.

Palm Sunday Masses – 5pm Vigil & Sunday 10am & 12 noon
Holy Thursday - Morning Prayer 10am, Mass of the Lord's Supper at 7.00 pm, Night Prayer 9 pm. (live streamed only)
Good Friday - Morning Prayer 10.00 am. Solemn Liturgy of the Passion 3.00 pm.
Stations of the Cross 7.00 pm.
Holy Saturday Morning Prayer 10.00 am.
Easter Vigil– 7.00pm(No 5pm Vigil)
Easter Sunday Masses.10 am. and 12 noon

Holy Week Confessions – Monday 29th March  6pm – 7pm in the church.

Sacrament of Reconciliation   St Nicholas' pupils will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (first confession) in the school this week. Pupils who are at schools other than St Nicholas' will celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation this Saturday. Please keep all the children in your prayers for this very special moment on their journey of faith.

Children’s Liturgy:  each week in the form of a video of the week’s Gospel reading. Available at : https://www.rpbooks.co.uk/celebrate-following-your-faith   This is an excellent resource in these exceptional times of no public Masses with children’s liturgy.

Huge thanks to the Messengers for collecting their bundles of Reachout last Tuesday.  It will be delivered to over 1200 homes. Really grateful to the team who produced the Easter Reachout, to those who have looked after coordinating its distribution, and sincere thanks to all the Messengers who are delivering it.  We'll also be posting it out soon on our social media platforms.

The young people of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Stations of the Cross for young people ~ good for Holy Week. You’ll find them on our website, Facebook, Instagram  and Twitter.

Stations of the Cross during Lent.  Fridays at 7pm on our parish’s YouTube channel.

The crosses and statues in our church are now covered with purple veils for the next fortnight. This ancient liturgical custom of using the veils, of hiding Christ from the world, of hiding Him from our sight is to help us in our preparation for, and really to become that much more focused on the mysteries of His passion. The statues of the saints are covered, too, from the 5th Sunday of Lent, since, if Christ himself is covered, so should be his servants.

Adoration for Holy Week & Easter : Visit Adorecast  Take a few extra minutes each day to have a heart to heart with Christ.  “Be still and know that I am God.”

The Piety Stall online store now has a large selection of cards for Easter for sale. Orders can be placed and either collected from the organisers’ homes or delivery can be arranged if collection isn’t suitable.https://www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk/piety-stall.html

Any parents who are interested in joining and getting involved in youth work in St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s parishes, then please do get in touch with the Youth Ministry Team  standrewsbearsdenyouth@gmail.com

Justice and Peace Group - Climate Change. Watch and Listen Live to Scottish Politicians' Response Scotland for a fairer world : Zoom question time event organised by SCIAF and others Date Friday 26 March; Time 6.30 -8.00 pm  Your opportunity to learn more about how our politicians plan to meet the unprecedented challenges presented by climate change. To register; google ” Eventbrite: International Question Time Tickets” and click on the link.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week 21st March (The Feast of Saint Oscar Romero is observed on 24th March) When the church hears the cry of the oppressed it cannot but denounce the social structures that give rise to and perpetuate the misery from which the cry arises. Saint Oscar Romero, Bishop and Martyr

Gift Aid Offerings – As fewer parishioners are now using envelopes for their gift aid offering, we have decided to dispense completely with envelopes. We would ask all parish gift aiders, if possible, that all future gift aid offerings be made through your personal bank account by electronic transfer (standing order) or by PayPal (see our website) or by using your phone and the parish’s QR code in the church porch. Many thanks. If you are a gift aider or not, and you would like to arrange an electronic transfer of your offering and require a standing order form, please get in touch with Brian Donnelly on 07484707750

Drumchapel Foodbank. The number of families now dependent on the foodbank, and the number of emergencies, are rising fast, especially when the schools are off. Thanks to all of our Parishioners who are donating food and toiletries to our collection point in the Chapel House porch to be delivered to Drumchapel Food Bank.  Regularly your donations are dropped off at the foodbank by our parish volunteers. Thanks for continuing to help, especially during lockdown.

Our parish’s soup-run’s volunteers continue to collect food donations form M&S Byres Road for delivery  to Drumchapel and St Gregory’s Foodbanks and the Wayside Club.

Parish Website – Bulletin - Just to say that on the latest page and the bulletin page, a subscribe button has been added which allows users to have a daily summary sent each morning with the previous day's posts. If you don't use social media, but would like to be kept posted, then all that's asked for is your email address  – you can unsubscribe at any time – it's all clearly marked.
