World Mission Sunday
Year of Faith—Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction—from after 12noon Mass until 5pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Sunday 14th October to mark the opening of the Year of Faith.

Year of Faith—Discussion groups on 25/10, 8/11, 22/11, 29/11, 6/12 from 7pm to 9pm at the Upper or Lower Hall.

Friday 2nd November 7.30pm—The Glasgow Gospel Choir will be performing a rich collaboration of African and Gospel music from an energetic mix of talented musicians.  All proceeds will go towards the African Youth Development Action Project, Liberia (ADAP).  Tickets (including cheese & wine) £10/£7  Children free!

Coffee Morning—Sunday 21st October after 10am Mass.  Proceeds to Lighthouse Projects for street children in Nagaland, India.  Donations of home baking (no nuts please) very welcome.  Please hand in before 10am Mass.  Thanks

We Need Your Help—The Messenger Service is seen as an important way of reaching out to all the Parishioners of St. Andrew’s Church.   Although we have a number of existing messengers, we urgently need more to assist delivering the Reachout Leaflet four times a year to about 10 addresses in your own locality.  If able help please leave your name and contact No. on the form on the notice board at the church or phone John Heath 0141 570 0797.

Forthcoming Dates and Arrangement for the Sacraments--
Confirmation dates—November 15th (Group 1) at 7.30 p.m.
November 22nd (Group 2) at 7.30 p.m.

First Communion Dates—5th, 12th & 19th May at 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon Masses.

Parents Meeting— For First Communion and Confirmation  for all intending to present children of P4 stage—on Wednesday 24th October in St. Andrew’s Primary School at 7.30 p.m.  Please note—the meeting is in the school

First Confession Dates—2nd & 9th March at the church at 10.30 a.m.  Parent meeting for First Confession on Thursday 17th January  at the Parish Upper Hall at 7.30 p.m.

Enrolment Forms—For the Sacraments are in the folders on the table at the porch of the church.  
Confirmation—(Pink) First Communion (Yellow) First Confession (Purple)—A form for each child and for each Sacrament requested should be completed and returned to the Parish Priest by 31st Oct.  2012.   Thanks

Commitment Service the Sacraments—For P3 parents and children—at the church on Sunday, 28th October at 10am Mass.

Parish Christmas Fair and Charity Christmas Card Sale—Sunday 18th November—after 10.00 a.m. and 12 noon Masses.  To host a stall contact Anne MacIntosh 931 5861 or Annamaria Strachan 942 9799.  Tea, coffee will be served.  Donations home baking (no nuts) gratefully received.  Please note the Piety Stall has a large selection of Confirmation cards and gifts in stock.

Fashion Show/Hostess Evening—On Thursday 8th November in Upper Hall at 7.30pm.  Fashion by Vanity Fair Bearsden.  Tickets £6.00 incl tea.  Further information contact Norah Mochan on 570 0643.

Parish Registration Forms—For new parishioners or for a change of address, please complete and return a form to the Presbytery .  A supply is kept at the bottom of the book rack at the Piety Stall, or speak to Fr. Donnelly.  Thank you.

Mission Sunday—21st October—please try to financially support the Church’s mission to spread the Gospel.  To Gift Aid your donation, please take an envelope from the basket in the porch of the church and return it to the Second Collection on the 20/21st October.

Parish Area Leaders & Messengers—Meeting at the Lower Hall on Tuesday 23rd October at 7.30pm (Leaders) and 8pm (Messengers).

Pro-Life Rosary—The Rosary for an end to abortion will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, 24th October in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.  Please note that the time is 30 minutes later than previously.
Pro-Life Torchlight Rosary—Assemble 6pm George Square 25th October to pray for the repeal of the 1967 Abortion Act.

Donations in Aid of Homeless—We are looking for donations of books, music CDs and DVDs and computer games to be sold for funds at the coffee morning on Saturday 27th October in the Lower Hall.  Please place all items in the box at the porch.

St. Andrew’s Squad—For all P4 children celebrating Confirmation please come to the Upper Hall on Sunday 4th November from 9am to 9.50am.  Please bring a photo of yourself.  Contact Margaret Hendry 563 9993 for more info.

Prisoners Week— Sunday 18th November.  - The Church Service is at Dunblane Cathedral at 6.30 p.m. on Monday 19th November.

Turnbull Ethics—New Approaches to Student Pro-Life and Social Justice—Tuesday 6th November at 7.15 p.m. See notice in the porch of the Church

Bearsden Literary Society—The Bearsden Literary Society meets in the Lower Hall, every second Monday at 7.45 p.m. Their next meeting is on 22nd Oct and is a talk by the authority Alex Gray, a prize winning crime writer from Glasgow.  Other subjects include J.M. Barrie, Renaissance Art at the Kelvingrove Museum, the Titan Crane, the abolition of the slave trade and others.   Details can be obtained from Roberta Young on 956 4281.

Commemoration  of  the Faithful Department—Nov. 2nd  10.00 a.m. & 7.00 p.m.  This year is planned to mark the above feast by a reading of the names of deceased relatives and friends during the last year, Nov 2011—Nov 2012.  This will take place during the lighting of candles.  You are invited to give the name of a deceased family member or friend by completing a slip which is available in the church porch.  All other names may be recorded in the memorial book which will be on the sanctuary throughout November.

The Wayside Centre—Grave concern over name of The Wayside Club—See notice in the church porch.

Congratulations—to Kathleen Thompson and Bruce Coburn who have completed their studies and will be commissioned as Catechists on 13th Nov at a Mass in the Cathedral at 7.00 p.m.
