A very warm welcome to Fr Brandon of The Society of African Missions (SMA Fathers) who is visiting our parish this weekend to speak to us about their Mission Appeal.There will be a second collection taken up to support the SMA Fathers in their missionary work.
Nick Pryce will take the next step toward becoming a Permanent Deacon during a special ceremony called Institution of Acolyte at 12noon Mass next Sunday 29th January in St Andrew's, Cathedral. All are most welcome to attend. Keep Nick and Trish and their family in your prayers.
Burns Supper and Ceilidh - There are still plenty of tickets available for this coming Saturday’s Family Burns Supper and Ceilidh, as part of the Parish’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, which is being run in conjunction with St Andrew’s Primary PTA. The caterer and the St Roch’s Ceilidh Band are booked so it promises to be a great night. All families and friends of the parish and school are very welcome to attend. There will also be a Scottish hamper raffle and a Tuck Shop. Tickets are on sale in the Piety Stall after every Mass, priced at £10 per adult and £5 per child (BYOB), which includes a two course meal. Please contact Anne on 07866 009078 for more details.

Dates and Times for Primary Three Sacrament of Reconciliation - During The Season of Lent (4th March – 9th April) Saturdays 10.30am – 11.00am; & 5.15pm – 5.45pm; Sundays 9.15 – 9.40am.
First Holy Communion for the Primary 4 children of the parish will be celebrated on Sundays 14th & 21st May at the 12noon Masses. This Thursday 26th January at 7pm in the Upper Hall, there will be a meeting for all parents.

Passkeepers Meeting – Thurs, 2nd Feb at 7pm in the Upper Hall. Format - half hour meeting in the hall informally discussing any issues and suggestions, followed by a Eucharistic Service in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel lasting about 20 minutes. Tea and coffee will be served during our meeting.
St Andrew’s Primary’s group of enthusiastic Eco gardeners will be visiting the Jubilee garden again on Thurs 26th Jan to check how the recently planted bulbs and plants are coming on.
Support in time of bereavement - for anyone seeking assistance, who is suffering a bereavement (not necessarily recently) and feels they couldfromtalking to someone about it, St Andrew’s Support in Bereavement Group is holding a Drop In Meeting in the Hut (behind the Chapel House) on Thursday 2nd February at 7.30 pm and will make you most welcome.
Parish Retreat to Iona/ Oban - 25-27 August 2017 - as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations, we are gauging interest in a short retreat to Oban and Iona. Details and a sign up sheet are in the porch. If you are interested, please sign up by today, Sunday 22nd January at the latest to allow booking to be confirmed.
St Andrew’s 50th Anniversary Art Exhibition. An Appeal to all artists and aspiring artists in the Parish. You are invited to create a piece of art (tapestry, installation, photograph, pottery etc.) The theme is ‘Come and See – the life and work of St. Andrew and St. Andrew`s Church’.
Your work could focus on history of the life of St. Andrew, architectural features of the Church, Parish activities, etc. All artwork should be handed in at the Sacristy no later than Palm Sunday, 9th April 2017. Thank you. Catherine Dunipace [email protected]
Dementia Awareness Campaign - Our Parish has signed up to endorse and participate in the Scottish Catholic Observer’s Campaign on creating more ‘Dementia Friendly’ Parishes. As such over the course of the year we will be working with Alzheimer Scotland on various initiatives to obtain an accreditation. SPRED - Have you ever considered becoming a SPRED catechist? You can find out more about this sometimes challenging but always rewarding work, with no commitment at this stage, at a series of four Tuesday evenings starting on 31 Jan. at the SPRED Centre in Provanmill. Drumchapel Foodbank – In this our parish’s Golden Jubilee Year, let us heed the words of Pope Francis: “We have to state that there is an inseparable bond between our faith and the poor. May we never abandon them”. Collection boxes are taken from the porch every Monday morning. All items such as cans of food, pasta and toiletries are gratefully received.
For Primary 3 Families - Preparation for First Confession All P3 children and their parents, (grandparents also, if they wish) are asked to attend an important preparation meeting on Thursday 23rd February 7pm-9pm in the Upper Hall, which will be led by the Salesian Sisters and their team.
The Legion of Mary will be visiting families in the parish who have had the celebration of a baptism recently. The Legion meets Tuesdays 7.30pm in the Hut. New members always welcome.
