The Vigil Mass at 6pm will be concelebrated, followed by a wine and cheese in the church hall. There are no tickets for the function and there will be a nominal charge at the bar. Please feel free to come in at any time in the evening until around 9.30pm.

Ladies Cabaret and Fun Casino Night in Aid of the White Lily Fund which raises money for Cancer Research in the West of Scotland—Friday 25th October at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Champagne Reception 3 Course Meal, Cabaret and Fun Casino Tables. Faith, Food & Fellowship—Sunday 27th October @ 7.15pm in New Kilpatrick New Halls. As we eat, talk and laugh together we will listen as God speaks to us through the foods of the bible. Confirmation for the Primary 4—Children will be celebrated on Thursday November 14th (Group 1) and November 21st (Group 2) at 7.30 p.m. Near the time, the school will arrange the groups. If parents wish to change the allotted group, please inform the school. If children are not attending St. Andrew’s Primary, please chose either date and arrange that with the Parish Priest.
Confirmation—There will be a Family Service of Preparation for Confirmation on Wednesday 2nd October at the church at 7.30 p.m. Parents, sponsors, children and all family members are most welcome.
The Sacraments—Confirmation, Reconciliation (First Confession) and First Communion. Parents intending to present children in the coming year are required to complete an application/enrolment form for each Sacrament—Confirmation (Pink) Reconciliation (Purple) First Communion (Yellow). They will be available on the table in the folders at the porch of the church. Please complete and return them to the Parrish Priest by 20th October. PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE FORMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM 28TH/29TH SEPTEMBER.

SCIAF—Syrian Refugee Emergency Appeal—An estimated 560,000 Syrians have fled to Jordan, a country with a population only slightly bigger than Scotland. SCIAF has been working with Caritas Jordan, to deliver emergency aid to Syrian refugees and the vulnerable Jordanians affected by the increasing demand for resources in Jordan. Through Caritas Jordan, SCIAF has helped to provide food, water, shelter, soap, blankets, heaters and medical care. Donations to the appeal can be made on line at www.sciaf.org.uk by post to SCAIF, Tartaglia has agreed to continue our tradition of celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving for the Arts 19 Park Circus, Glasgow G3 6BE or by telephone on 0141 354 5555. At the request of the Archbishop, the second collections on 28th/29th September will be for S.C.I.A.F to aid their work for the Syria Appeal. Thank you.
Liturgy—Brenda Murray is retiring from her work as Liturgy co-ordinator from October. She plans to support Fr. Mackle in his early weeks in the parish until he makes a new appointment. We express sincere thanks to her for her many years of very generous service to our Parish Community
Bearsden Joint Churches for Christian Aid Committee –I am delighted to advise that the total sum raised for Christian Aid for the year ended 30th June 2013 was £36.594. This was made up of £24,000 from the door to door collection during Christian Aid Week, with the balance of £12,594 raised from the coffee morning and various other fundraising activities which took please throughout 2012 and 2013. This is a wonderful achievement and I would be very grateful if you could pass on the Committee’s thanks and appreciation to everyone in your congregation who supported and attended Christian Aid events over the past year. Coffee Morning—After 10.00 a.m. Sunday 20th October. Please come along and join use. Donations of Home Baking (no nuts please) always gratefully received. This month we are raising funds for Beam (Bearsden and Milngavie talking newspaper Association) which was mentioned in last month’s parish bulletin. Also, many thanks to everyone who came along to last month’s coffee morning. The sum of £120.00 was raised for the Multiple Sclerosis Society Scotland.
