First Communions were a great joy for our parish over the past fortnight welcoming the 54 children and their families for their First Holy Communion Day. We thank all who were involved in helping the children prepare, at school, at home, and in the parish. We pray that the blessings of the Eucharist will stay with them for a long time to come. If you haven't registered yet for the booking process for Mass, it's simple and easy to do.
Go to www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk
Register just once, and book each time you want to come to Mass.
The Piety Stall online store has a large selection Confirmation cards & gifts for sale. Orders can be placed and either collected from the organiser’s homes, church house porch or delivery can be arranged if collection isn’t suitable.https://www.standrewsbearsden.co.uk/piety-stall.html
Help wanted - Our parish soup run volunteers continue to collect supermarket surplus donations 7 mornings a week from M&S Milngavie and Byres Rd and deliver to St Gregory’s foodbank, the Wayside and Aspire, west end. Some additional volunteers to help cover on occasion would be really helpful to allow our volunteers to take a well earned break. No need for a permanent commitment but occasional cover as we move into holiday period would be good. Please email Veronica McLaughlin - [email protected]
Pope Francis Faith Award - P7 ceremony & (next year's P6) An Award ceremony will be arranged at the school for the P7 candidates before the end of term. Both parishes will work with St Nicholas’ to run a new cohort next session - it will be ‘opt in’. So, current P5s are invited to think about the PFFA. Candidates will be invited to enrol in the new term and parish sign up will be arranged at this time. St Nicholas' have passed on their sincere thanks to the PFFA team in both parishes for supporting the candidates with their endeavours.
Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - 23rd May (Pentecost) An authentic faith – which is never comfortable or completely personal – always involves a deep desire to change the world, to transmit values, to leave this earth somehow better that we found it. We love this magnificent planet on which God has put us, and we love the human family which dwells here, with all its tragedies and struggles. Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, para 183
