Altar Servers’ Awards. Last Sunday 16th September, five Servers were enrolled officially into the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen (Maggie Smith, Anna McVey, Freya McLeod and Claudia Higgins at the 10am Mass; and Samuel Kane at the 12 noon Mass). Each received the familiar bronze medal on a red cord, as they have demonstrated, by assisting at Mass regularly for over two years, their commitment to their parish ministry by serving at the Altar. At the same time, acknowledgement of long-standing service is also being made to Kirsty Kennedy and Katie Paterson who have both served faithfully for over five years, this recognition being marked by exchanging their red cords for yellow cords. Well done and congratulations to all concerned. We are very fortunate at St. Andrew’s to have a number of good and committed Servers. Six youngsters have indicated that they would like to serve and training sessions are due to commence very soon. There is a real need for more Altar Servers and anyone interested should approach Fr Mackle, Mgr Ryan or Chris Sanders (942 7519).

We are looking for some volunteers to assist with this. If you are interested, could you contact the halls phone on 07528 425 698 to let us know of your help and also if you have any questions. Could any Parish Group that uses the Crypt for storage ensure their areas are clean and tidy and appropriately marked, so we don’t dispose of anything by accident. Many thanks.
Use of Halls – Both halls are blessed with an eclectic mix of lets that could be of interest to a wide range of parishioners. These include exercise, Pilates and puppy training classes to name but a few. Further details can be found on the Parish web site. One particular let worth highlighting is Weekday Wow Factor which meets from 12.15 to 13.45 in the Upper Hall on a Wednesday. This exciting, healthy and fun mainstream leisure activity for seniors in our communities is a ‘start up’ social enterprise, where any profits would be re-invested to benefit our communities. This is for all generations and includes a light lunch too. Charge is £5 and children go free.
