"Come to me all
you who labour and are overburdened
and I will give you rest."
Archbishop Tartaglia wrote to all parishes recently asking for special prayers to be said for peace in Iraq and throughout the world.  "We have all watched with grave concern the developing situation in Northern Iraq and across the Middle East. The Holy Father has made repeated pleas to both the international community to promote dialogue and to the Catholic community to be united in prayer with the persecuted communities in Iraq... In response to the Holy Father's request, I urge you to pray for peace in Iraq and throughout the world”. The special intention for peace in Iraq and across the Middle East will prayed for daily at our 9.40am Rosary.

SPRED (Special Religious Development) has been part of the pastoral and catechetical life of the Archdiocese since 1984. Our parish group is a small community of faith meeting on Wednesday evenings during school term from September to May. We would welcome new volunteers to become companions in faith to our friends who have a learning disability and help them take their rightful place within the parish community. A series of three introductory evenings for new volunteers starts on Tues 9th September. Why not come along to the first one and give it a try - there's no commitment at this stage. More information on the SPRED website - www.spred.org.uk - or from Catherine (942 6984) or Lorna (942 0696)

St Andrew’s Primary PTA is hosting a Quiz Night on Friday 12th September in the school hall from 7pm until 11pm. Entry is £5 which is payable on the door (BYOB, glasses and snacks). All welcome. Please note that a pre-requisite isn’t a broad range of general knowledge, it’s a fun evening out and a great excuse for a get-together. Come along yourself and join a table or please feel free to arrange a team !
