blessed is the he who comes in the name of the Lord;
hosanna in the highest.”

This ancient liturgical custom of using veils, of hiding Christ from the world, of hiding Him from our sight (and the saints) is to help us in our preparation for ~ and really to assist us in becoming focused solely on the mysteries of His passion - the sufferings Christ endured for our redemption.

A church that doesn't provoke any crises, a gospel that doesn't unsettle, a word of God that doesn't get under anyone’s skin, a word of God that doesn't touch the real sin of the society in which it is being proclaimed — what gospel is that? Saint Óscar Romero

Just to keep you posted regarding the Parishes/Archdiocesan programme of looking to the future. The stage we are at now is that the Archbishop has asked Pastoral Area Councils to look at how best pastoral care can be provided for the next five to ten years within their own pastoral area. St Andrew’s & St Joseph’s Pastoral Area Council will meet on 4th April to discuss this, and any proposals which emerge are to be submitted to the Archbishop by 19th May. We'll keep you fully advised. With the falling number of practising Catholics, the current shortage of priests, and with a vocations dearth, the Archbishop is undoubtedly faced with having to take tough and difficult decisions. Do keep him and the Archdiocese in your prayers.
