Last Sunday was such a day of great joy welcoming 45 children and their families for First Holy Communion Day. We thank all who were involved in helping the children prepare, at school, at home, and in the parish. We pray that the blessings of the Eucharist will stay with them for a long time to come and that they will become committed members of the Body of Christ.

Save the date: There will be a Thanksgiving Mass for all the First Communicants and their families on Sunday 9th June at 10am followed by a big First Holy Communion party.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 26th May 2024 The kingdom of God is not far from us, but is near and often hidden in the holiness of daily life. Pope Francis, Homily at Casa Santa Marta, 13 November 2014.

Laudato Si’ – On Care for our Common Home – A spirituality which forgets God as all-powerful, and Creator is not acceptable. That is how we end up worshipping earthly powers, or ourselves usurping the place of God, even to the point of claiming an unlimited right to trample his creation underfoot. (#75)

Walk for Vocations - Whole Deanery is invited. Gathering will be at Lidl - McDonald’s in Kirkintilloch on Sunday 9th June at 2.30p.m. to reach Schoenstatt at 5p.m. for Holy Rosary. Route is mostly along paths but there are some roads to cross. Wear walking shoes and it might be raining. Children, young persons and vulnerable adults must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. It would be great if some folk could meet us at Schoenstatt for the Rosary… and bring some drivers back to Kirkintilloch!

Summer Mass Schedule. In order that one priest is able to say Masses in both St Andrew's and St Joseph's during July and August, a Mass schedule has been drawn up by the Pastoral Area Council. As it has become increasingly difficult to arrange a summer supply priest, due to there being fewer priests now, a reduced number of Masses for July and August has become necessary. The summer Mass schedule leaflet is available in the porch.
