Mary’s Meals—Work with some of the poorest people in Third World countries.  We offer help by collecting unwanted/unused clothing and bedding (all textiles) and turning them into funds to carry out our work overseas.  For better clothing, we receive a better price but even from rags we raise money that in turn helps us to feed starving children.  (2 Black Poly Bags filled with textiles could generate enough funds to feed a child in Malawi FOR A YEAR (approx £7.00) world-wide and with your help we hope to continue expanding our feeding programme).  PLEASE NOTE THE VAN WILL COLLECT AFTER THE SUNDAY MORNING MASSES ON SUNDAY, 26th MAY 2012—WE REGRET WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT BRIC-A-BRAC and we are unable to COLLECT IN THE EVENING.  2nd Collections on 25/26th May for Mary’s Meals.

The Andrea Kearney Fundraising Dinner—Saturday 1st June 2013.  Tickets are available for the Andrea Kearney Fund Dinner—In the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow on Saturday 1st June at 7.00 p.m.  This charity is the only one in the UK which offers financial help to women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.  The ticket price of £55.00 includes drinks on arrival, a delicious 3 course meal with wine and entertainment from some of Scotland’s talented musicians and performers.  Why not save money and book a table for 10 for £500.00?  To book tickets, please go to www.andreakearney.org or telephone 0141 –881 1320.  If you can offer any raffle prizes or items for auction at this special event, please contact Veronica Maguire on 942-0607 (happy to uplift) as soon as possible.   Many thanks.

Trinity Sunday—26th May—the end of the period for fulfilling Easter Duty.

Canniesburn Care Home—Is looking for voluntary mini bus drivers.  PVG disclosure and any other expenses paid for by the home.  Please contact the home on 0141 943 2003.

From the Archbishop’s Office—”Year of Faith” - Pope Francis will preside at an hour of Eucharistic Adoration in St. Peter’s Basilica at 5.00 p.m. Rome time on Sunday 2nd June.—Corpus Christi. At the same time we are asked, to celebrate our hour of adoration and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament here at St. Andrew’s from 4.00—5.00 p.m. in solidarity with the Holy Father’s prayers and intentions.  

Silver Jubilee Celebrations—Congratulation to Fr. Stephen Hannah, celebrating the Silver Jubilee of his Ordination.   He invites any of the St. Andrew's Parishioners who wish to attend Mass at the Holy Family and St. Nanina's Kirkintilloch, followed by a B.B.Q. on Thursday, 20th June at 7.00 p.m. If you intend to take part, please enter your name on the sheet at the church porch notice board.   Thank you.

First Communicants Thanksgiving Service & Celebration Party—at the church and the Upper Hall on Sunday 9th June at 3.00 p.m.

Margaret English R.I.P.—Margaret Mary, Clare and Family of the late Margaret English would like to thank family, friends and fellow parishioners for their love and support at this time  Many thanks for all who contributed to the “Alzheimer's collection.  A sum of £460.00 was collected toward this cause.

St. Andrew’s Whist Drive—St. Andrew’s Whist Drive will be held on Monday 26th May in the Lower Hall at 7.30 p.m.  All, including beginners will be made very welcome.  We are very friendly and would love to see you there, whatever your ability.  Please contact Susan Morrison on 0141 563 7959 or 07580086381 for more information or just come along for a great night.

AGAP Film & Faith Club—Meets on Thursday 6th June at 7.00 p.m. in St. Michael’s Parkhead.  This month’s film is “The Crucible” (1996, Certificate 12) starring Daniel Day-Lewis.  It is about the Salem witch trials of 1692 and the post-film chat will be about the nature of “witch hunts” and mass hysteria.  Free Tea/Coffee afterwards and no obligation to commit to all screenings.

AGAP—Is collaborating with Wellington Church on University Ave/Southpark Ave in a projected called “Stranger Powers of Speech” on Friday 7th June at 7.30 p.m. as part of the West End Festival.  An evening of poetry inspired by wildlife with a dramatised reading of ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’.  Admission free.  Fair trade wine and cheese provided.  Donations to the World Wildlife Fund.

New Dawn in Scotland—Catholic Pilgrimage Conference—8th—12th July 2013—See notice in the porch of the church.

St. Andrew’s Foundation Glasgow University—The event has two aspects:  A Mass in St. Andrew’s Cathedral at 7.00 p.m. on Friday 14th June at which Archbishop Muller will give the homily followed by a Civic Reception.   The formal launch of the foundation on Saturday 14th June in the Bute Hall of the University at which Archbishop Muller will deliver the annual Cardinal Winning Lecture. (Please note that the event in the university although free requires advance on line registration.)  See notice in the porch of the church. 

St. Peter’s Primary School Partick —Closing Mass—all invited to St. Peter’s Church on Friday 7th June at 1.00 p.m. Celebrant Archbishop Philip Tartaglia.
