St Andrew’s The 29 Club (200 Club) 2023/24 Season-Reminder! Our popular 29 Club pre Christmas draw will take place at the Parish Social Evening on 2nd December 2023. - Top prize of £1000 and 5 x £100 prizes. My thanks to those who have renewed their subscription however we still have small number yet to renew!! Our fundraising is used to support the Parish Development Fund; various Charitable causes  and ...  you can win one of the many cash prizes on offer during the year. 
We appreciate YOUR support!!! Vacancies are available now for the 2023/24 season with membership at £6 per month by standing order or £65 annual payment. Interested?? then give or pass your name and contact details to Fr Joe or myself.

Mary’s Meals invites you to its Christmas Market on Saturday 25th November (10a.m.-7.30p.m.) and Sunday 26 November (12p.m.-7.30p.m.) at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, to help raise funds for its work providing school meals to children in poverty. Browse our selection of stalls from volunteers and small businesses and join our workshops, including: Sessions with our founder Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow 

Catholic Education Sunday – 26th November - We look forward to welcoming pupils and staff from St Nicholas’ and Turnbull High at today’s 10a.m. Mass. The theme this year is “Pilgrims of Faith” and is a preparatory year for the Jubilee of 2025 which has the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. A 2nd collection will be taken up to support the vital work of the Scottish Catholic Education Service. For information on becoming a teacher in a Catholic school, please contact [email protected]
 
St Andrew’s Whist Drive will take place on Wednesday 29th November  in the Lower Hall, from 2p.m. – 4:15p.m. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served. Entry £3. Looking forward to seeing everyone. New members always welcome. 
 
ADVENT APPEAL 3rd until 11th December. It will soon be time for our Advent Appeal for Christmas Gifts for Refugees and Homeless, so please start saving your toiletries etc. Please fill a large gift bag with the following for either Ladies or Gents. Warm hat, gloves, scarf, pants, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste/brush (ladies gifts to include sanitary products). A hand written card is always nice to include. Any other spare items to be put in separate bag in porch. Many thanks- Veronica McLaughlin and the volunteers.

Boxing Day 26th December - No Mass.  New Year’s Day weekend - Masses as normal. 
New Year’s Day Mass - 10a.m. Tuesday 2nd January - No Mass

‘Take a beat…’ and remember the REASON FOR THE SEASON St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes are hosting an evening of Advent Reflection and Carol Singing to prepare for the season ahead. This will be held on Friday 22nd December from 6.30p.m. in St Andrew’s Church, followed by festive refreshments in the Hall. The Youth Ministries team are looking for volunteers to assist with reading reflections and prayers. We are looking for young and old(er) volunteers from both parishes, including any Pope Frances Faith Award and Caritas Candidates, Primary and Secondary pupils, readers/non-readers, anyone who can help us spread some Christmas cheer. Young People's Christmas Photography Competition 2023 run by the Knights of St Columba. Happy 40th Anniversary.  Messengers past and present gathered for Mass last Monday night followed by a celebratory ruby anniversary cheese & wine.   Here’s to another 40 years of messengers reaching out. Christmas Reachout will be delivered to around 1300 homes in the parish during the coming weeks.  If Reachout is not delivered to your home, and you would like to receive a copy, please email [email protected].

Laudato Si’ – Many people will deny doing anything wrong because distractions constantly dull our consciousness of just how limited and finite our world really is. As a result, “whatever is fragile, like the environment, is defenceless before the interests of a deified market, which become the only rule”. (#56)
 
Thanks to everyone who supported this year’s Christmas Fair.  Special thanks to Veronica Maguire and the fabulous team who helped with serving the teas and coffees after the Sunday Masses, the bakers, those who served in the stall and helped set up and put away all of the tables and chairs. Lentfest 2024 - Call for Participants:  AGAP is seeking actors for forthcoming theatre productions. 
Open Auditions will be held on 4th December 5p.m.-8p.m. in the Eyre Hall, 196 Clyde Street, G1 4JY. Please download the info pack with audition pieces and complete a short form. AGAP is keen to hear from musicians, poets and anyone wishing to take part in Lentfest as a performer or helper, and from any person or organisation wishing to propose an event for inclusion in the festival programme. The Church is open until 5p.m. Monday to Saturday. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet, and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.

Tea is served in the hut after daily Mass Monday to Thursday. All most welcome.
 
Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some act of reverence such as a bow.

Support For Drumchapel Foodbank. Non-perishable food items are always gratefully received and can be placed in the House porch. Donations can also be taken straight to the Foodbank at Ladyloan Pl Unit 9, G15 8LB. We regularly use cash donations to purchase food items for delivery straight to the foodbank. Our rota is always looking for more foodbank volunteer drivers. If you can help, please get in touch. Thanks for continuing to give the foodbank your support.
