Parish Day Trip to Carfin for the National Pilgrimage 3p.m. Mass and Rosary Procession. Sunday, 3rd September -The Bus is free and will leave Roman Road car park at 1p.m. sharp. There is a cafe at Carfin but you might want to take a packed lunch. Sign up sheet in the porch.
All P3 parents intending to present their child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent 2024, pleasecollect before Mass an enrolment form from the sacristy. Forms to be returned, please, by Sunday, 29th October 2023
P4 parents are not required to re-enrol. Your form and all the details on it from last year (P3) will automatically roll on to the P4 list.
P7 parents should collect an enrolment form for Confirmation. All forms are to be returned, please, by Sunday, 10th September 2023.
There will be a Confirmation Meeting for all Parents and Sponsors on Thursday 28th September at 6.30p.m. in St Nicholas' Assembly Hall.
Dates to Note
- Sacrament of Confirmation for P7 pupils will be celebrated in St Andrew's on 25th January 2024 at 7p.m.
- Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession) for P3 pupils will be celebrated on Saturday 9th March in St Andrew's from 10a.m. until 11a.m.
- First Holy Communion for P4 Pupils will be celebrated on Sunday 19th May at 12 Noon Mass.
Parish Catechesis sessions are being arranged for the pupils of all three sacraments. Please keep your eye on the bulletin for dates.
As part of the "Creative Crafternoon" on Saturday 9th September from 2p.m. to 5p.m. there will be a group textile project to which all are welcome to contribute, especially children. There's no need to bring anything. We are aiming to use only donated/scrap materials. The Season of Creation 2023 begins this week on 1 September till 4 October with the theme “Let Justice and Peace Flow”. As the people of God, we are challenged to work together on behalf of all Creation, to take up climate and ecological justice, and to speak out with and for communities most impacted by climate injustice. As well as our parish trying to build up numbers again for Masses after the Covid era, we're hoping too for a return for many to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Weekly Confessions are on Saturday 10a.m. until 11a.m. and 4.15p.m. until 4.45p.m. & on Sunday mornings 9.15a.m. until 9.40a.m. The Confessional has a glass panel fitted in the door which simultaneously allows transparency and privacy. Meditative music is played during Confessions to add to the penitent’s privacy.
It is pleasant to spend time adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. The Eucharist is such a priceless treasure ~ by praying before it, we are able to make contact with Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament. Saturdays 10a.m. until 11a.m. Confessions throughout. Confessions also on Saturdays 4.15p.m – 4.45p.m & Sundays 9.15a.m – 9.40a.m
The Church is open until 5p.m. Monday to Saturday. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet, and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.
Tea is served in the hut after daily Mass Monday to Thursday. All most welcome.
Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some act of reverence such as a bow.
