A Message from Archbishop Tartaglia regarding the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for our young people during the 2020-21 pastoral and school session.
Regarding the current P7 cohort of candidates: I propose that we wait to see if the Covid-19 virus can be suppressed sufficiently to allow a condensed but more or less normal programme of Confirmation later in the 2020-21 session.
Regarding the cohort of candidates who were last year’s P7 and this year’s S1: I propose that they be confirmed between now and Christmas.
Due to the lockdown of last spring, I had to cancel 15 liturgies of Confirmation. The key to being able to confirm these candidates at this time is that, instead of in clusters of parishes, they should be confirmed parish by parish, in such a way that numbers can be kept down.
From Fr Mackle - Our parish is therefore currently making arrangements for the Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation for all S1 pupils to take place some time before Christmas and all families will soon be advised.
First Confessions - Saturday 3rd or 10th Oct 10am – 11am.

Discerning a Vocation to the Priesthood? If you think God may be inviting you to such a vocation, pray hard about it, and have a chat with one of the parish clergy. First Holy Communion Masses - 2pm - 1st, 8th& 15th November. As I am sure you will appreciate, these Masses will be very different from what we are normally used to, but they will be no less special occasions of celebration for the boys and girls. We keep them all in our prayers.
Remember, face coverings will need to be worn for both First Confession and First Holy Communion.
Confirmations – the archdiocese is currently working on arrangements for Confirmations of last year’s P7s (this year’s S1s), and as soon as we learn what they are we will write to all the families.
For all P3 and P4 Families The intended dates for First Confession for the current P3s will be sometime during the Season of Lent 2021. The intended dates for First Communions for the current P4s will be sometime after Easter 2021.
October Devotions – we invite you to unite in prayer for live streamed Rosary and Benediction each Sunday at 4.30pm.
Due to the current ongoing local restrictions in EDC and the surrounding areas, visits to the school, including by clergy, are now being put on hold. The school is content though for the outside visit / short liturgy for P1 still to go ahead. Plus, we’re working on live streaming first Friday liturgies to pupils and staff in their classes.
