Fr. James Ayuba - we welcome to St Andrew’s Father Ayuba from Nigeria, who will be with us for the next few weeks. Towards the end of the month, he will move on to St Patrick’s, Dumbarton, but although he’s only here for a short time no doubt he’ll be very warmly welcomed and looked after.

Good news! - The church is open again daily until 4.45pm. If you need a quiet place for prayer and reflection, call in for a visit.

Soup run this Friday 7th August from 7pm in Lower Hall. Leave at 8pm. Donations of soup, sandwiches, soft fruit, biscuits etc most welcome. Any queries please call Phyllis on 570 1343

Evening Pilgrimage to Carfin  – Thursday, 13th August. Bus will leave at 6.30pm at the Post Office in Milngavie and return at 9.30pm. All are very welcome. The evening will include Rosary Procession, Holy Mass and Benediction. Organised by the Legion of Mary.  Next evening pilgrimage will be Sunday, 13th September.

50th Anniversary of my ordination – 29th June 2015 - Sincere thanks to Fr. Mackle and to the parishioners of St Andrew`s for the Masses, prayers, cards, gifts and good wishes in celebration of my Golden Jubilee. Rev. William B. Donnelly

More youth retreats in the pipeline for our parish.  24th October for 12 – 16 years.  Format:  Youth Vigil Mass followed with catechesis, witness statement and a social in the hall.  Also, themed retreats with P6/7 pupils reflecting the “This Is Our Faith” curriculum.  More information soon.

There will be a Special Collection at all Masses 15th/16th August for the archdiocesan Assisted Parishes Fund.

Youth 2000 Summer Festival - 27 to 31 August - a 5 day Prayer Festival, held in Walsingham, Norfolk.  The Festival is packed with dynamic talks, live-band worship, powerful prayer times, fun social activities, creative workshops, in-depth discussions, evening entertainment and loads more.  With top speakers from the USA and all over the UK, Youth 2000 events are primarily for 16 - 35 year olds.  If you are in this age range and looking for answers to the big questions in life, then this retreat is for you! Milngavie Memory Walk - 30 August to help raise awareness and fundraise for Alzheimer's Scotland. Join us for what promises to be an event the whole family can enjoy. The walk will be 4k (2.5 miles ) around the Milngavie Water Works. Please note that a small section of the route passes through a wooded area so may not be suitable for wheelchairs and buggies. Walk Registration is £10 for adults, £5 for 12 – 16 year olds and under 12s go free. Official Memory Walk t-shirt £5. They will be based at Drumclog Car Park,Milngavie Water Works on 30 August. If you have any concerns with regards to a relative or would just like information on Dementia/Alzheimers then please feel free to visit the information bus.

A memorial service for Gerry Hughes SJ, former Catholic Chaplain at Glasgow University (1967-75) will take place at Glasgow University Chapel, West Quadrangle, Main Gilmorehill Building on Monday, 17 August at 6pm with a reception afterwards at Turnbull Hall, Southpark Avenue. 

Preparing for Confession leaflets - Simple advice and tips for receiving this Sacrament. These leaflets help penitents prepare to make a good confession prior to the Sacrament of Penance. Aimed at helping people who have not been to confession for many years and those who go regularly but would like a bit of help in preparing better. On sale from the piety stall 25p each.

Discerning a Vocation to the Priesthood? If you think God may be calling you to the Priesthood—for information on evenings of Catechesis, Prayer and Fraternity to help discern your vocation (2nd Fri of the month) please contact Vocations Director, Fr  Campbell, [email protected] (339 4315)

Please search your cupboards and drawers for surplus Rosaries and help the Catenian Association get them into the hands of those who will love, cherish and pray them. Since 2009, the Catenians have been sending Rosaries to Aboriginals in Australia and to 3rd World countries in Africa. A collection box is available in the porch.

How about holding or organising a fundraising event to raise money for Re-decoration of the church and re-carpeting of the sanctuary, the approximate cost of which is £22,000? A couple of good ideas so far. Many thanks to the parishioner for the generous donation of £50.

Legion of Mary – 7.30 p.m. in the Hut every Tuesday.  All most welcome.
