"Who is the King of glory?
It is the Lord".

Priests in the Diocese - We have been used in the past to having 2, 3 or even 4 priests in a parish.  Those days are gone. In 1977, there were 285 diocesan priests serving in the diocese: today there are 85, a drop of 70%.  The average age of priests has increased and with that comes more complex health issues.  Projecting forward, the number of priests in twenty years time will be 45 or fewer. There are currently 96 parishes in the diocese. We need to plan for a sustainable future. We need to keep praying for vocations - for more priests. During Lent there will be a strategic ‘This Affects You’ deanery meeting with 2 members of each Parish  Pastoral Council and priests.

St Blaise is patron saint of those with ailments of the throat. This Monday, 3rd February, in honour of the feast day of St. Blaise, after the 10am Mass, those who wish can come forward for a blessing to protect them against and heal them from throat ailments.
