Peter’s Pence Special Collection this weekend:This collection helps the Pope to contribute to some of the many requests for donations to charitable causes which are made to him and secondly it assists in financing the Pope’s office.
 
Many congratulations and all our good wishes to Monsignor Ryan on the Golden Jubilee of his Ordination, and may the days ahead be filled with many blessings.
 
Youth Noticeboard – had a look at it lately? New photos added of recent youth events – the April Youth Prayer Service, the Mission Week Youth Mass, and the Caritas Awards Ceremony. Dates to note - Primary 6 Day Retreat 26th Oct; NET Ministries Day 29th Oct; Nightfever 16th Dec; Children’s Choir Concert 17th Dec. Plus, we’re hoping to arrange, with St Joseph’s, a joint reunion for P7s, sometime before the end of the year.
 
Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated for P7 pupils of St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s Parishes in St Joseph’s Church 7pm 6th February 2018.  Enrolment forms available in the porch to be returned please by 30th July.
 
Date to note – The Sacrament of Confirmation in Primary 7. There will be a meeting for parents and sponsors on Thursday 28th September 2017 at 7pm in St Joseph’s Church Hall, Milngavie.
 
Soup Run – this Friday 7th July 7pm in Lower Hall. Donations of soup, sandwiches, soft fruit, biscuits etc most welcome. Any queries, please call Phyllis on 570 1343
 
Iona Retreat Meeting – All information regarding our parish’s Golden Jubilee Iona Retreat is contained in the letter which retreatants received a few months ago. However, for those who might have any questions or concerns, there will be a short meeting in the Upper Hall at 6pm on Thursday 20th July 2017.
 
Evening Pilgrimage to Carfin for St Joseph’s and St Andrew’s – Thursday 13th July. Bus will leave at 6.30pm at the Post Office in Milngavie and return at 9.30pm. All are very welcome.
 
Many thanks to the parishioner for the donation of £100 towards our parish’s £15,000 share for the rebuilding of the unsafe boundary wall. All donations towards this are nonleviable.
 
Our very sincere thanks to the Bearsden Literary Society for their kind gift of £50 to the parish on the occasion of our 50th Anniversary. It’s deeply appreciated.

Lectio Divina Dramatica  A new initiative from Archdiocese of Glasgow Arts Project to encourage reflection upon the Word of God in sacred scripture through drama, imagination and prayerful reading. All welcome. Meets on first Tuesday of each month at St Mungo's Retreat House, next to St Mungo's Church, 52 Parson Street, Townhead, Glasgow, G4 0RX

Parish library has a very extensive range of books and DVDs covering a wide variety of religious topics. We would like to encourage you to have a look at the books and DVDs.
 
Celebrate Scotland – 2-3 Sept. St Ninian’s High, Giffnock. Catholic Charismatic Weekend Conference. For more details and information, pick up a flyer from the porch or visit www.celebrateconference.org.  Some parish subsidy may be available.
 
Caritas Award    If you will be going into your final year of school after summer, or just finished secondary and are interested in becoming a candidate for the 2017 / 2018 Caritas award, speak to Fr. Nick Pryce’s Ordination to Permanent Diaconate will be celebrated here in the parish on Friday 8th September at 6pm Mass followed by a reception in the hall to which everyone is invited. Keep Nick and Trish and their family in your prayers
 
Spirit of Peace Jubilee Garden – please feel free to go in anytime and take a seat. Enjoy the peace. The work on making safe the boundary wall will soon be complete. Work on landscaping the raised planter at the front of the church will soon begin.
 
Interested in becoming a Catholic? – Not baptised? Baptised in another faith? The RCIA Programme (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adult) will begin in the autumn.RCIA is the process by which adults are received into the Catholic Church. The programme of catechesis and instruction prepares adults for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, usually celebrated at theVigil.Please speak to Fr. Mackle if you would like to know more about RCIA and the Catholic faith.
 
Day Trip to Carfin for the National Pilgrimage Mass and Rosary Procession. Sunday, September 3rd. Bus will leave from Roman Road at 1pm and return 7.30pm. Cost £3. Please sign sheet in porch, if you would like to go.

"We want to keep up what the Mission brought us." If you have any suggestions and ideas for following up and building on the experience of the Parish Mission - it might be setting up a Prayer Group, or a faith sharing group, or you might want to get involved in one of the parish’s existing groups, or perhaps make a commitment to become involved in one of the ministries in the parish, then please speak to Fr Mackle.

On Tuesdays until 18th July, the church will be open until the later time of 7.30pm for anyone who might want to call in for some peace and quiet prayer.
 
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Please consider coming to spend time in adoration and prayer each Saturday. We would like to have a number of adorers for each half hour. Sign up sheet for you to initial or sign is in the porch.

Vocations to the Priesthood initiative
Pick up a copy of the Vocations leaflet from the porch. It is a good read of several young men who have discerned a vocation to the Priesthood.
 
Divine Mercy Novena is prayed weekdays after morning Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. All most welcome. Legion of Mary meets on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Hut. New members always welcome.
 
For the 50th Anniversary - a booklet guide to both parishioners and visitors.  Along with a history of the church there is an explanation of the mosaics and emblems. Price £1. Proceeds will go to one of our anniversary charities.  A selection of Mass cards in the piety stall, designed by Siobhan McLaughlin, each with a feature of St Andrew's church.
