Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week – 2nd June 2024 Jesus taught his disciples to pray by asking the Heavenly Father not for "my" but for "our" daily bread. Thus, he desired every person to feel co‐responsible for his brothers so that no one would want for what he needs in order to live. The earth's produce forms a gift which God has destined "for the entire human family”. Pope Benedict XVI, Angelus, 12 November 2006

Laudato Si’ – On Care for our Common Home – The best way to restore men and women to their rightful place, putting an end to their claim to absolute dominion over the earth, is to speak once more of the figure of a Father who creates and who alone owns the world. Otherwise, human beings will always try to impose their own laws and interests on reality. (#75)

Consultation on a Proposed Right to Palliative Care - letter from the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland is on this link.

Rosary ~ Monday to Friday 9.30a.m. and in the month of May - Sundays 4.30p.m.

With both Mrs Grogan and Ms Lennon leaving St Nicholas’ at the end of this term to take up their new roles in other schools in the region, we want to thank them both for their hard work and commitment to teaching and learning over their years in St Nicholas’. We are very grateful to them for helping forge more and more the link with both parishes, and helping the children, especially at their sacramental stages, be formed on their journeys of faith.  We wish them both all the very best in their new appointments.

There is still time to respond to the consultation on a proposed Right to Palliative Care (Scotland) Bill. The proposal, put forward by Miles Briggs MSP, would introduce a private members’ bill that would establish a legal right to palliative care for everyone in Scotland who is living with terminal illness and to provide equitable access to the palliative support. Click this link to access the short consultation which closes on 3rd June https://ymlpcl6.com/5f4ebejhhafaeqsusalajbwavabseq/click.php

Summer Mass Schedule. In order that one priest is able to say Masses in both St Andrew's and St Joseph's during July and August, a Mass schedule has been drawn up by the Pastoral Area Council. As it has become increasingly difficult to arrange a summer supply priest, due to there being fewer priests now, a reduced number of Masses for July and August has become necessary. The summer Mass schedule leaflet is available above and in the porch.
Be neighbourly during July and August and look out for anyone who might not drive and would maybe appreciate a lift to Mass in St Joseph's, Milngavie.

Please remember in your prayers those in need, those who are sick and housebound and those in hospital.
