"Do not worry
about tomorrow."

Forty Hours Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament –
Sunday 2nd March, Solemn Evening Prayer at 5pm. Night Prayer at 9pm.
Monday, 3rd March  Holy Hour at 7pm. Night Prayer at 9pm.
Tuesday, 4th March, Holy Hour at 7pm. Night Prayer at 9pm.
Holy Hours - will be led by the Dominican Fathers.
“The Eucharist - is a priceless treasure: by not only celebrating it, but also by praying before it outside of Mass we are enabled to make contact with the very wellspring of grace”. Blessed John Paul II.

Ash Wednesday, 5th March. Ashes will be distributed during the 10am and 7pm Masses. A day of fasting and abstinence from meat. You are required to fast if over 18 and 60, which means one complete meal and two smaller ones. If you’re over the age of 14, you are required to refrain from eating any meat on Ash Wednesday. To fast and to abstain reminds us of the penitential nature of Ash Wednesday.

Stations of the Cross—every Friday at 7pm during the Season of Lent followed by Confessions.

Times for First Confession - Families of Primary Three children are invited to choose one of the scheduled confession times during the Season of Lent for their child to make First Confession. Family members are encouraged too to take the opportunity then to go to Confession

Liturgy Group – Next meeting will be on Tuesday, 11th March at 7.30pm in the chapel-house.

Parish Pastoral Provision - Looking to the future. The Parish Pastoral Council met last week to discuss the six options for our North West Deanery (they are currently listed in the discussion paper on this website). The PPC's evaluations of the proposals will be published soon, and opportunities will be given at parish open meetings for all parishioners to engage in this important consultation process.

Soup Run—will be on this Friday 7th March. All donations of soup, sandwiches, soft fruits, biscuits etc gratefully accepted in the lower hall from 7 pm. With many thanks for the continuing support.

Children’s Choir dates – all at 10am Mass. March 9th & 16th, May 11th & 18th, June 8th & 15th. Any enquiries, contact Annamaria Stachan on 942 9799 / 07749715514

World Day of Prayer—this Friday, 7th March—10.30am.  This event is taking place in our church and we hope as many parishioners as possible will join us, along with members from the other Bearsden churches.  This year the theme is “Streams in the Desert” and has been arranged by the women of Egypt.  The guest speaker is Lorraine McMahon from The Church in Need—coffee and cake served in the upper hall afterwards.  See notice in the porch for more details.  PLEASE NOTE—MASS WILL BE AT 9AM  on Friday.

Mass Attendance Census—for 23rd February. Vigil – 168; 10am – 323; 12noon – 157. Total – 648.

Supporting Fairtrade—The parish’s Justice & Peace Group has compiled a very helpful Q & A list for Fairtrade Fortnight, which is issued with this week’s bulletin.

Fair Trade Fortnight—24 Feb until 9 March.  In the last 10 years, the UK supermarket sector has almost halved the price of loose bananas while the cost of producing them has doubled. To sign the petition asking the Secretary of State for Business to act to protect millions of poor farmers and workers, see foncho.fairtrade.org.uk or sign postcard available in church porch.

SPRED (Special Religious Development) - has been part of the pastoral and catechetical life of the Archdiocese since 1984. Our parish group is a small community of faith meeting on Wednesday evenings during school term-time from September to May. We would welcome new volunteers to become companions in faith to our friends with learning disabilities and so help them take their rightful place within the parish community. A series of three introductory evenings for new volunteers starts on March 11th. Why not come along to the first one and give it a try -there's no commitment at this stage. More information is available on the SPRED website - www.spred.org.uk If you are interested please phone Catherine (942 6984) or Lorna (942 0696).

National Day Pilgrimage to Carfin in September. We are looking for a couple of volunteers from the parish who would be happy to look after organising a bus to Carfin. Please speak to Fr Mackle, if you are interested.

The following special collections / donations have been sent. Assisted Parishes Fund £354. SPRED £500. St Nicholas Care Fund £1016 + boxes £402. Christmas Quarterly for ecclesiastical students £500. Pro-Life £605. Justice & Peace £757. Christmas Crib for St Margaret’s £2086. Education Sunday £635.

Piety Stall Rota. We are still short of volunteers to assist with serving in the Piety Stall, particularly after the Vigil Mass. If you could spare 15 minutes after Mass and are over aged 16, we would really appreciate your help. The rota sheet for March and April is on the noticeboard in the porch. Any questions, please call Anne MacIntosh 931 5861 or Annamaria Strachan 942 9799.

CAP Money Course at Bearsden Baptist Church from 7.30-9.30pm on Thursdays 6th and 13th March at 14 Roman Road. To secure a free place, call John Tainsh on 942 0752. CAP, devised by Christians Against Poverty, is a two session money management course that helps people take a fresh look at their finances, and be more in control of their money, so they can save, give and prevent debt.

RCIA Please keep in your prayers John Harper and Robbie McKechnie, who are engaged in the RCIA process of becoming Catholics this Easter.

Discerning a Vocation to the Priesthood? – contact Fr John Keenan, rcchaplainy@gla.ac.uk (0141-339-4315) or Fr Ross Campbell, rosscampbell81@gmail.com (0141-776-1063)

Padre Pio Prayer Group – Monday at 7.00pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. All are very welcome.

Maryhill Foodbank Collection. Please place any donations of non-perishables (tins of soup, beans, meats etc. pasta, rice, toiletries) in the containers in the porch. Many thanks.

Calling All Messengers—Our next meeting will be on Monday 14th March in Lower Hall—Area Leaders at 7.30 p.m. and Messengers at 8.00 p.m.  Could you please bring your copy of the Messengers Prayer with you?  We are short of quite a few messengers particularly in the Bonnaughton/Baljaffrey area,  so if any parishioners could help deliver the Reachout twice a year, please contact D. MacLean—587 7319—Thank you.
