R.C.I.A. Parish Choral Group—Has begun practices again on Thursday evenings at the church at 7.30pm.  New members welcome, contact Susan Morrison 563 7959.

St. Andrew’s Primary School Parent Council—A.G.M.  - In the school 18th September 2012 at 7. p.m.  All welcome and we are particularly short of members at the P.1,2, and 3 stages.

“Kirkin o the Council” - A welcome to the members of East Dunbartonshire Council—The Councillors and Officials are gathering here at St. Andrew’s at 12 noon Mass this weekend.  We pray that they may exercise their offices with wisdom and discernment and work for the Common Good of our local community.  All welcome—also to the reception in the Upper Hall following Mass.
Marriage Sunday—Many thanks for the special collection last weekend—the sum collected was £586.00.  

Year of Faith--”The Documents of Vatican 2” - See notice at the church porch.

Carpet Bowls--Bowls re-start on Thursday September 6th at 1.00 p.m. in the Upper Hall.  A warm welcome is extended to any new members.  Please come along and  join in a happy afternoon, including tea and cake.

St. Andrew’s Whist Drive--is held on the last Monday of the month in the Lower Hall at 7.30 p.m.  All, including beginners, will be made very welcome.  We are friendly and would love to see you there, whatever your ability.   Please contact Susan Morrison on 0141 563 7959 or 07580086381 for more information or just come along for a great night.

Soup Run--The next soup run will on Friday 7th September.  Donations taken at the lower hall from 7.00 pm.  Soup, sandwiches, soft fruit, biscuits etc most welcome.  Any queries please call Phyllis 0141 570 1343.  Many thanks for the continuing support. 

Racial Justice Sunday - is observed every year on the second Sunday of September. It is an opportunity for all Christians to focus on racial justice and to pray for an end to misunderstanding, racism, prejudice and injustice. It reminds us to celebrate the diversity of human life and experience and to recognise and value every human being as made in God‘s image.

Carmelite Spirituality and Prayer—The next meeting will be on Monday 3rd of September from 7.30-9.00pm.  So, if you are a young woman, aged between 30 and 45, and would like to deepen
your prayer life and learn more about Carmelite Spirituality, why not join us here at the Carmelite Monastery, Waterside Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 3PE.

Installation of the new Archbishop--Deacon Thompson, Eva Feeley and Brenda Murray will represent the Parish Council and the parish community at the event.

Volunteers Required--We are looking for some strong men/boys to help set out and put away the tables and chairs on the Coffee Morning days, (normally every 3rd Sunday of the month apart from during the month of May and the school holidays).  If you are able to help, please contact Veronica Maguire 0141 942 0607 or email [email protected]  Many thanks.

Family Ceilidh--To celebrate St. Andrew’s night, we are holding a family Ceilidh on Saturday 24th November in the Upper Hall from 7pm—10pm.  B.Y.O.B. and soft drinks and we’ll provide burgers, hot dogs and pizza.  £15 per family ticket.

Fernhill School--Are holding a Mass in Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral, Motherwell on 18th September at 7pm to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the school.  All welcome.  More details on the school website www.fernhillschool.co.uk

Red Mass Announcement--The annual Red Mass, which is held to mark the beginning of the legal calendar, will take place at 11.30am on Sunday, 23 September within St. Mary’s Cathedral, Edinburgh.  The Mass will be celebrated by Cardinal O’Brien with the homily given by Bishop Toal, Bishop of Argyll and the Isles.  The Mass is likely to be of particular interest to those involved in or connected with the justice system in Scotland.  Families are welcome to attend and there will be a reception in the Cathedral Hall afterwards.  If you are interested in attending, please contact Gerry Considine via email at [email protected]
