Blessed are the poor in spirit;
the kingdom of heaven is theirs!"

It is hoped to return, in the not too distant future, to having our church open all day until 5pm during the week. This will be done in stages, beginning with Fridays.

Primary Seven Confirmation Parents’ Meeting will be this Thursday 3rd February at 7pm in the church. Confirmation Masses will be on 4th & 5th June at 2pm.

Children's Liturgy - The weekly video of the Sunday's Gospel reading is on this link. An excellent resource for parents to use until the children’s liturgy starts back.

As we journey through this new year, and especially with the recent very much welcomed further easing of restrictions, it would be good to have more and more people coming back to Mass. For your reassurance, we have two dedicated areas for social distancing in the church, which is well ventilated and safe for all at all times.

Mary’s Meals will be visiting our parish 12th/13th Feb to give a short update and information talk at all Masses. A retiring collection taken up to support their vital work.  Please note, this year there will NOT be a collection of unwanted clothing.

There will be a half price sale of selected Piety Stall stock in the Lower Hall on Sunday 13th February after the 10am and 12 noon Masses.  As always, all profits will go to Church funds.   May we kindly request that attendees wear masks, unless exempt, and bring cash to pay for their purchases as there are no card machine payment facilities, thank you.

A new monthly group for young adults called 'The Originals’ has been launched by the Archdiocese.  All 18-30 year olds are invited to an evening of discovery, fellowship and faith.  Join RCAG Youth on Thursday, 3rd February, 1800 - 2030, in St. Peter’s Hall, Partick.  Pizza included.  Followed by pub (optional).  For more information, check out RCAG’s website: www.rcagyouth.co.uk

Altar Servers’ Awards. Last Sunday at 12 noon Mass, three brothers were enrolled into the Archconfraternity of St. Stephen. Benedict Kono received the familiar bronze medal on a red cord, having demonstrated, by assisting at Mass regularly for over two years, his commitment to this parish ministry by serving at the Altar. At the same time his older brothers, Dominic and John-Francis, received the familiar bronze medal, but on a gold cord, both having served for over five years. All three lads have served before at their previous parishes. St Andrew’s is fortunate that all three have continued to serve now that they have moved here.

Acknowledgement of long-standing service is also being made to Amy Hartley who has also served faithfully for over five years, this recognition being marked by exchanging her red cord for a gold cord this Sunday at 10am Mass. Well done and congratulations to all concerned. We are very fortunate at St. Andrew’s to have a number of good and committed Servers (six gold cords, & six red cords). There is a real need for more Servers, and if anyone is interested, parents should email [email protected]  or call Chris Sanders (942 7519).

The Beginning Experience are holding a weekend at St Mary’s, Kinnoull, Perth 25th – 27th March for those who find themselves suffering from bereavement through divorce, separation or widowhood. For more details contact Catherine on 0131 665 3383 or email [email protected] before 12th March.

Pope Francis has invited us all to take part in a process of discussion and listening about how we are journeying together in the church. We will be contributing to the views of the Archdiocese, and the whole church, leading to the Synod of Bishops in Oct ‘23. Keep your eye on our social media and the bulletin for details about this, which will be posted soon.

Between now and Easter, please keep in your prayers Jackie, Rebecca, Jason and Rokas, who look forward to being received into the Church at Easter.

Over £550 of food and toiletries were bought from the Cash & Carry and delivered directly to Drumchapel Foodbank this week. Over £6,000 of items have been purchased for the Foodbabnk over the past ten months. Thanks to our parishioners who make this possible through regular monetary donations.

Various groups continue to use the halls in a COVID safe manner. These include support groups relating to alcohol and cocaine, fitness and exercise classes for various age groups and ability, choirs, weight loss classes, activities for the younger members of our Parish including RugbyTots and a mother and toddler group, dog training, whist drives, flower arranging and University of the Third Age.
