Today, Sunday 30th July, is World Day against People trafficking which is the fastest growing crime globally.any given time, an estimated 2.5 million people are trapped in modern-day slavery. Men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers both in their own countries and abroad. Every country in the world is affected by human trafficking, whether as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims. Please say a prayer and be aware of victims of human trafficking, Thank you. St Andrew’s Justice & Peace group.
 
Interested in becoming a Catholic? – Not baptised? Baptised in another faith? The RCIA Programme (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adult) will begin in the autumn.RCIA is the process by which adults are received into the Catholic Church.The programme of catechesis and instruction prepares adults for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, usually celebrated at theVigil.Please speak to Fr. Mackle if you would like to know more about RCIA and the Catholic faith.
 
St. Andrew's Whist Drive will take place on Monday 31st July, beginning at 7.30pm, the Lower Hall. Everyone is welcome regardless of ability. Someone will be on hand to help if you are a beginner. It is, essentially, a social night. £3 includes admission, raffle ticket and tea/coffee. Come along for a great night. Nick Pryce’s Ordination to Permanent Diaconate will be celebrated here in the parish on Friday 8th September at 6pm Mass followed by a reception in the hall to which everyone is invited. Keep Nick and Trish and their family in your prayers
 
Like to help with tending the church gardens? To build on the success of the recent landscaping and building project, we would be grateful to anyone who would like to volunteer assisting the gardening group continue with enhancing our grounds. Urgent Appeal - Drumchapel food bank are in real need of additional supplies. During the summer holidays, school meals are not provided so the need is even greater than usual. As well as the usual items, some treats for kids would be much appreciated. If you could leave in the porch, these are taken down each Monday. Many thanks.
 
Many thanks to the staff of HMRC for their very generous collection of food items handed in last week for the foodbank. All donations were delivered to the Drumchapel Foodbank last Monday morning.

Our Golden Jubilee Year Day Trip to Carfin for the National Pilgrimage Mass and Rosary Procession. Sunday, September 3rd. Bus will leave from Roman Road at 1pm and return 7.30pm. Cost £3. Please sign sheet in porch, if you would like to go.
 
Monsignor Henry, who is buried in New Kilpatrick Cemetery, Boclair Road, was parish Priest of St Andrew’s from 1978 – 1995.  The contribution he made to the development of St.Andrew’s, particularly in driving forward the construction of the present church building, was immense. In this Golden Jubilee Year, and on the anniversary of his death, the rosary will be prayed at his grave for the peaceful repose of his soul and for the eternal rest of all the faithful departed. All are most welcome. Please gather at the cemetery gates at 2pm on Sunday, 6th August.

St Margaret of Scotland 5k Midnight Walk. This year the event is open to all. Starts and finishes at Great Western Retail Park. 9.30pm Saturday 2nd Sept till 2am Sunday. For more details and information see poster in the porch.week the Hospice has to fundraise£43,000. Withthe help of community events such as this 5k Midnight Walk,burden is lightened.

Mary’s Meals clothing collection. Volunteers from Mary's Meals will be here on the weekend of 16th and 17th September to collect any used clothing. A second collection will  be taken up to support this important charity.
 
Evening Pilgrimage to Carfin- Sunday,th. Bus will leave at 6.30pm at the Post Office in Milngavie and return at 9.30pm. All are very welcome.
 
SCIAF Real Gifts – the latest catalogue of “real gifts” is available at the back of the church: from school books to chickens; from birth certificates to mobile medical centres – your gifts can help people in so many ways. For more info see www.sciaf.org.uk/realgifts.
 
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament – each Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm. Please consider coming to spend time in adoration and prayer each Saturday. We would like to have a number of adorers for each half hour. Sign up sheet for you to initial or sign is in the porch.

Divine Mercy Novena is prayed weekdays after morning Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. All most welcome. Legion of Mary meets on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Hut. New members always welcome.
 
Dementia Awareness Campaign Time to put your best feet forward for our annual Memory Walk on 12th August 2017. A sponsored walk around the Milngavie Water Works in memory of a loved one, to remember someone living with Dementia and their families and raise much needed funds for Alzheimer Scotland, East Dunbartonshire An event the whole family can enjoy. If anyone has a business or works for a company that may Sponsor a table or donate a raffle prize for the Alzheimer Scotland, Me Not Ball in September then please contact Anne on the same details.

Abortion Petition –the British Medical Association has sadly voted to call for the decriminalisation of abortion. To show our desire to protect innocent life SPUC have asked us to sign a petition in opposition to the campaign to extend abortion. This is available at the back of the church – please sign it and show your concern to defend those who cannot defend themselves.
