Pope Francis Faith Award Parish enrolment Mass took place last Sunday and it is great having such a good number of P6 pupils participating.
A huge thanks to all those who looked after all the many preparations for and led Friday’s All Saints’ Retreat Day for St Nicholas’ P6. Grateful thanks to our parish catechists, youth ministry team, class teachers, Caritas candidates & PFFA participants for all their much appreciated help and assistance with the retreat day.

The St Andrew’s parish Christmas Fair will take place on Sunday 17th November after 10am and 12 noon Masses. This will be similar to last year’s, with a selection of charities at the event. Could parishioners who would like to host a stall please contact either Anne MacIntosh (931 5861) or Annamaria Strachan (942 9799) before Sunday 3rd November to confirm. All profits from the Piety Stall go to Church funds. Tea, coffee and home baking will be served at this event with all proceeds this year going to The White Lily Fund. This charity was founded by one of our own parishioners, Mrs Angela Bruno MBE, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and now raises funds for research into and equipment for ALL types of cancer in the west of Scotland and has raised over £1 million to date.
Fair Trade Group – Christmas Event. The Milngavie and Bearsden Fair Trade Group is holding a Christmas Fayre in the Upper Hall from 3.30 – 5.00 pm on Friday 29 November 2019. Mince pies and non-alcoholic fruit punch together with fairtrade goods (including Christmas cards and Advent calendars) will all be for sale. All are welcome.
“The Eucharist in Scripture.” A series of video talks by Dr Scott Hahn, author or At the Lamb’s Supper and Rome, Sweet Home. He will walk us through the scriptural roots of the Blessed Sacrament. Where we find the institution of the Eucharist in Scripture, what we actually believe is happening at Mass, and why the Eucharist is at the centre of our faith. The course will run on Tuesdays at 7pm and Thursdays at 2pm through to Advent. St Gregory's, Hall 130 Kelvindale Rd., Glasgow G20 8DP. All most welcome.
Soup Run – Christmas Gifts & Carols– Our soup run volunteers and folk group will take Christmas Gifts and sing carols at two centres this year on Fri 6th Dec and your help in making that happen, would be really appreciated. We would like each gift to include : a hand written Christmas card, hat, gloves, scarf, underwear, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrush and ladies to include sanitary products. These will be in a Gift bag rather than wrapped this year. If you are able to provide any or all of these items including gift bags, can you please put in the box at the back of the church marked Soup Run, between now and Sun 24th Nov. In addition, extra new or excellent condition inexpensive men’s underwear is desperately needed and will also be distributed at the Wayside Club.
The Justice and Peace Groups— from St Andrew’s, Bearsden, and St. Joseph’s, Milngavie, have joined with members of New Kilpatrick, Bearsden, in organising an evening on the 14th November to hear the views on Trident of church representatives and local politicians. Father John Gannon and the Very Reverend Dr. Alan D. McDonald will present the churches position. Local schools will also be represented. The event will be held in St. Andrew’s church hall from 7.30pm – 9pm with refreshments and a chance to speak with speakers at the break. Please come along and hear all views.

Remembrance Day Concert. Bearsden Choir, in conjunction with Erskine Veteran Homes will be performing Duruflé’s Requiem and Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem in Glasgow City Halls on Sunday 10th November at 4pm, together with professional soloists and orchestra, under the baton of the dynamic Andrew Nunn.
