“Hear me, all of you, and understand.
Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;
but the things that come out from within are what defile."

St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s are now one Pastoral Area. What then is a Pastoral Area?  It is where two or three parishes are joined together to foster pastoral care by means of common action.  Both St Andrew’s and St Joseph’s already work together in a number of areas, such as youth ministry, and Justice & Peace. Both work together too with having the shared primary school of St Nicholas’.  During the course of the next year, we will be looking as to how we can work more closely together in more of a shared mission.  More details about this soon.

"HOORAY & WELCOME EVERYONE   St. Andrew’s & St Joseph’s lunch club new season kick off ~ this Thursday 7th Sept in the upper Hall 12.30pm until 2.30pm and thereafter every 1st.&3rd Thursdays of each month. We look forward to seeing you all again and remember to bring along your friends and have agood time in good company.

RCIA will begin toward the end of this month of September. Are you thinking about becoming a Catholic ? Do you know someone who is? Please speak to Fr. Mackle if you would like to know more about the RCIA process.

All most welcome ~ ‘Make time for Creation’

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 3 September Being a disciple means being constantly ready to bring the love of Jesus to others, and this can happen unexpectedly and in any place: on the street, in a city square, during work, on a journey. Evangelli Gaudium, para.127

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - The poorest areas and countries are less capable of adopting new models for reducing environmental impact because they lack the wherewithal to develop the necessary processes and to cover their costs. (#52)

SEASON OF CREATION  -  WEEK 1  The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to listen and respond together to the Voice of Creation and the cry of the poor.  This week, the Scottish Laity Network has organised a Zoom session on Thursday 7th September, 7.00 - 8.30 pm, on “Flowing within the Divine: A Spirituality for ALL  Seasons”.  Register through their website, http://scottishlaitynetwork.org.uk

Can you help? Volunteer driver and assistant needed, please, to bring a parishioner from the Kessington area to Mass once a month. If you can help, please contact Charles on 07463 770191

Don't criminalise compassion. Gillian MacKay's Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) Bill will soon be debated in Holyrood.  This will remove a lifeline for vulnerable women and discriminates against pro-life Scots.  Please contact your MSP to make your views known.  Write to all your 8 MSPs at once by going to an easy to use we took : www.spuc.org.uk/nobufferzonesScotland

All P3 parents intending to present their child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent 2024,please collect before Mass an enrolment form from the sacristy. Forms to be returned, please, by Sunday, 29th October 2023
P4 parents are not required to re-enrol. Your form and all the details on it from last year (P3) will automatically roll on to the P4 list.
P7 parents should collect an enrolment form for Confirmation. All forms are to be returned, please, by Sunday, 10th September 2023.
There will be a Confirmation Meeting for all Parents and Sponsors on Thursday 28th September at 6.30p.m. in St Nicholas' Assembly Hall.

FYI - The upper hall’s new patio doors are now fully installed. Feel free to take a wee walk round to see them. Paving work will begin soon on the new patio area.  We’re hoping to install a new window just along from the doors subject to planning permission.  Plus, plans for next year are for some central heating and redecoration work to be done on the upper hall.  We are currently obtaining costs for resurfacing work to the church entrance and driveway.

As well as our parish trying to build up numbers again for Masses after the Covid era, we're hoping too for a return for many to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Weekly Confessions are on Saturday 10a.m. until 11a.m. and 4.15p.m. until 4.45p.m. & on Sunday mornings 9.15a.m. until 9.40a.m. The Confessional has a glass panel fitted in the door which simultaneously allows transparency and privacy. Meditative music is played during Confessions to add to the penitent’s privacy.

It is pleasant to spend time adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.  The Eucharist is such a priceless treasure ~ by praying before it, we are able to make contact with Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament. Saturdays 10a.m. until 11a.m.  Confessions throughout.
Confessions also on Saturdays 4.15p.m – 4.45p.m & Sundays 9.15a.m – 9.40a.m

The Church is open until 5p.m. Monday to Saturday. Call in and enjoy the peace and quiet, and take time to sit in the stillness in the silence of God.

Tea is served in the hut after daily Mass Monday to Thursday. All most welcome.

Before receiving Holy Communion, we are asked to make some act of reverence such as a bow.
