Archbishop Nolan's Pastoral Visit ~ What a wonderful occasion it was. Over 500 parishioners gathered to celebrate the weekend's three Masses with our Archbishop. Masses for the beginning of the holy season of Advent were inspiring, peaceful liturgies, full of joy and hope. Following the Sunday Masses, we enjoyed the lovely coffee mornings and delicious home baking and the Archbishop appreciated the chance to meet people personally.
The Archbishop presented five of our altar servers with the gold cord for their wonderful five years' commitment to altar serving. Huge congratulations to them 👏👏👏. He enjoyed the opportunity on Education Sunday to meet the teachers from both St Nicholas' and Turnbull High.  A huge amount of thanks to all the boys and girls who were involved in all the various ministries over all the three Masses.
The Archbishop was very grateful to the Children's Choir for their wonderful singing, and was very impressed with the terrific number at the Children's Liturgy.
Thank you to everybody who worked so hard to plan and organise the weekend's pastoral visit.
Archbishop Nolan wishes to thank everyone who worked so hard in preparation for his visit to St Andrew's. We look forward to welcoming him back for the Primary Seven pupils' Confirmations next May.

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Sunday 4 December (International Human Rights Day is observed on 10 December)   Since rights and the resulting duties follow naturally from human interaction, it is easy to forget that they are the fruit of a commonly held sense of justice built primarily upon solidarity among the members of society, and hence valid at all times and for all peoples.  Pope Benedict XVI, Address to the General Assembly of the United Nations, 18 April 2008
