"Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
to God who is, who was, and who is to come."

Congratulations go to Hannah and Lola, who, along with hundreds of young people from across Scotland, will be presented with the Caritas Award on Tuesday 6th June at the Clyde Auditorium. The Caritas Award is a sign of their ongoing faith journey in response to God’s call of love. It celebrates their faith witness, and their terrific commitment to the life of the parish. Look out for Caritas pics on our social media. Going into your final year of school after summer? Interested in becoming a Caritas candidate? Get in touch.  Visit www.caritasaward.org.

Congratulations, too, go to the Pope Francis Faith Award P7 champions who will be receiving their award at a ceremony on Thursday, 22nd June (NB Date change) at 2.15pm in St Nicholas’. This is great news for the school and both parish communities. Parents and family members are invited to attend. Look out for the PFFA pics online.  P5s, it’s time to start thinking about becoming a PFFA candidate.

I’d like to thank everyone for their generous support and donations towards WYD in Lisbon this year. Sunday's coffee morning raised a fabulous £760. I would like to invite parishioners to join me at a family quiz night with a buffet and bar for only £5 per adult and £2.50 per child on Saturday 1st July at 6.15pm in the upper hall. The questions will be fun and suitable for all ages. Tickets will be on sale after every Mass the weekend before, by contacting [email protected] or by seeing me at any of the Vigil Masses.  Thank you all in advance and if you have any questions about World Youth day, please feel free to ask!   Hannah Quinn

Catholic Social Teaching Thought for the Week - Genuine progress does not consist in wealth sought for personal comfort or for its own sake; rather it consists in an economic order designed for the welfare of the human person, where the daily bread that each man receives reflects the glow of brotherly love and the helping hand of God.    Populorum Progressio, para.86

Laudato Si’ - On Care for our Common Home - These days, they (the excluded) are mentioned in international political and economic discussions, but one often has the impression that their problems are brought up as an afterthought, a question which gets added almost out of duty or in a tangential way, if not treated merely as collateral damage. (#49)

New Social Justice Officer:  The Bishops of Scotland have appointed Anne Marie Clements as the new Catholic Social Teaching Engagement Officer to raise the profile of Justice & Peace and highlight the connection between the human rights and social justice issues of today and our Catholic faith.

Maura McRobbie and family would like to thank all the parishioners who made Fr Joe Dillon’s visit such an outstanding success. His memoir: ‘People I Met on the Way’ sold out and a sum of £900 was raised between the Book Launch and Coffee Mornings. Thank you so much.

To the parishioners of the Parish of St Andrew, Bearsden, Glasgow
I want to thank you all for the wonderful reception that you gave me and the way you have helped my mission by buying the book People I met on the way.
It's the story of 50 years as a priest in Brazil and I hope you will pray for me so that I can continue my work  especially with the sick and the vulnerable.
As I work with complementary forms of health, I would like to always have the possibilities to help these people ,  providing them with conditions that they will not find in the health  services.
I pray and I ask for your prayers that I will be able to continue this work for as long as my health permits.
Thanking you once again
A Big Hug from Brazil
Fr.Joe Dillon
